Default How much does color effect value?

Are there factory colors that detract from value, or, put another way, are there colors that command premium over others?

What are some of your least favorite 70's colors on 911's?

Favorite's?

If you saw an otherwise really solid example that you could buy, but the color didn't do it for you, would you walk away?

I wouldn't walk away but I'd pay more for a color I love.

I paid top dollars to get a relatively rare Gemini Blue. My holy Grail is Irish Green. I'd pay 20% premium for Irish Green with tan or brown seats on any car any day.

I think I'd walk on a Mary K porsche. Other than that I like the unusual colours. That's what made the 70s special.
New cars these days you get what limited colours suppliers want to give you.

Not a huge fan of the maroon color, grasping at what the actual color code/name is. That and brown, puke. Alternatively I am super attracted to cork colored interior. I would pay a little more for it.

Trends and whims ...who can predict those???

Long ago I remember some folks "oohing" over one nicely-fitted SC at the track once. It was that poop brown. I seriously could not get past the color. Very nice car. But were I shopping and saw this one, it would have to be priced seriously attractive for me to overlook the poop. Irrational? Yes. But it's fact.
OTOH, when I was looking for my 993 years ago, I had a hard budget that I had set ...except for Riviera Blue. That was the only color I was willing to stretch the budget for (and dang it if every owner of this color didn't already know it, LOL!!!).

It's like buying a house: you have your high priority must-haves, your give and takes, and your deal-killing heck-no list of things. Factor the color into the rest of the equation to determine whether it's worth pursuing or time to keep looking elsewhere.

Default colors

colors play a roll in resale.

I have seen auctions where an ivory white car would not meet reserve but a irish green example exceeds reserve.

the reds, whites, silvers and blacks are all typical.
The blue are a little more interesting.
Bright colors really do well.
Irish green has proven to be a strong performer.
Sand beige has made a come back, and sephia brown is more interesting then ever but still a hit or miss IMO.

odd ball colors are all the rage nowadays. Anything to get away from the "normal".

I found a purple car. Only a T, but interesting all the same.
Interesting helps sell.

Blues are Best

Red says "Arrest me NOW, Occifur"

generally, 911s do pretty well in any color -- even a coked-up '80s red

I heard that brown adds at least $10k (Of course I'm extremely biased!)

This one is cockney brown in the EU or Bitter chocolate in some markets. But same paint code.

Many colors that did not sell new were such low production they are almost in the PTS category. I knew of a signal green 964 that wouldn't sell for years new and now people pay premiums for the color.

The PO of my cobalt blue turbo couldn't get people to take a look at it because nobody understood the color. Now it gets more attention than most anything. The color grabs peoples attention and I was offered more than the car was worth several times because they wanted the color. In hindsight maybe I should have sold it when they were offering me over $300k for it but I don't know what to replace it with. Now the market is not so strong. PTS colors sometimes can be ugly but they have been all the craze to have a one of one.

In reverse Some colors are just so horrendous nobody wants them.
