1) Spyder Rs owners generally do not use the cars as their daily (this is my 4th car), but some do.
2) If you are using it, you don't wait starts to rain; you see the weather changing; stop and put the roof on, at least the bimini. The same thing happened to a regular Spyder.

This is a small trade-off for all the car provides to you; I had/drove several cars (Lambo, Ferrari, Mclaren, Gt3s/Gt4, etc. none of them provide the particular experience the Spyder RS does... this is unique, a rare thing these days.

I hope your opinion is not based on not getting an allocation and maybe because you didn't drive it or try the roof to have a real-life experience
Point #2 exactly. Started one day was going to go with top down, clouds moved in and looked like poor weather, put the roof on before we left. Took it down later in the day when the weather cleared up. Not that hard.

I’ve owned some nice cars in my life. I love this thing.

if you get caught in the rain with the top down, it’s your fault.

My dealer is also only MSRP BUT he has his special customers that are at the top of the list.

That being said, I did not even put my name on the list as I would have to trade my Spyder for it. The SRS top doesn't bother me and I actually like the bimini top as I had one of those on an old Miata and it was great. I would probably not get an allocation anyway but I did not place my name on the list due to the lack of a manual. I know, PDK is better and faster but I am not a track junkie and I just want to row my own gears. For me that is a deal killer (not that I could get a allocation anyway).

If my dealer called me out of the blue with an allocation, I would probably take it though as I know it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but I would have to probably also buy a Miata or something fun with a manual.

That's actually what I do. I have a 6MT ND2 Miata soft top to go with my incoming SRS. If I need to scratch my MT itch or if the weather is remotely iffy, I take the Miata key instead. Since the Miata has its own brand of fun, I don't feel I am missing out on driving pleasure when I drive it instead of the SRS. The change of pace enhances the driving experience of both cars.

Damn it, now you have me playing on the configerator. I wonder if I got a Shark Blue SRS, if my wife would notice that I swapped cars.

Nah, she won't wont. Tell her you went to the shop and cut some holes in the fenders to look cool.

Not in the market but I love the two piece top, think it’s cool and unique and looks incredible. I know it’s not the most practical thing but these cars aren’t exactly Escalades.

I see, the answer is "Just STFU, drink this, and buy a Miata." Got it.

And the Miata is so small you can hide it behind a garden shed, she won't know you bought one either.

The answer is get richer, buy a GT3 with manual AND a SRS.

I agree; this is my actual garage. Being a manual fan (sold other PDK cars like 991.2 GTS, etc., in the past for being bored), I can say that Spyder RS PDK has something different, I don't feel disconnected at all, and it matches perfectly with these gear ratios; the sound, the car, etc. It was my main doubt when I pre-traded my previous manual Spyder for the SRS.
