Yes 992 GTS is harsh, i prefer the GT3 but 718 RS is even worse , is bouncing on all uneven roads really too much,
really annoying while wheels are flying somewhere, it can't accelerate nor brake properly,

looking to fix it with Ohlins or similar,

anyone experience/ideas?

 

It’s a track car, I run a GTS 4.0 for road use.
the hype on people buying and trying to run these on the roads is daft. So many for sale with no miles on.

 

Wrong. Ever driven a factory race car? They are very compliant. How else do you expect to take a curb etc and keep the car underneath you?

Call TPC Racing and ask for Tom. Plug and play system takes 15 min to install.

 

I have some MCS sitting here to install when my car arrives. DSC is the best alternative though to damper replacement.

IMO yes. 718 rear suspension does not like uneven surfaces ... tends to skip/jump over them ... YMMV

 

If it is installed and then removed for the service at the dealer does it leave any trail ?

 

not AFIAK however Ive had DSCs in my 7.2 and 991.2 GT3's and my Spyder as well as a 991.1 GTS and never had any complaints/issues with dealer service - only time it might be an issue. is if there is some TSB that requires f/w update.

 

I put a DSC on my GT4RS, it definitely made the suspension more "compliant" but it did not 100% fix the traction issue where you're in a canyon with a slow speed corner and uneven pavement trying to power out of it. Traction control light still lights up a ton and it struggles to put power down on the uneven canyon pavement. It did make the car smoother over bumps at speed/less bouncy and the car has more grip on turn in with the DSC. Worth trying for $1200. Although my DSC has a 991.2 3RS file because DSC refused to send me a GT4RS file unless I gave them more money.

 

Aren't those files meant to be per specific model to work as intended ? The 911 traction capabilities are quite different from a Cayman

this was my experience with my Spyder, a DSC and offset rear toes help a lot but I dont think its entirely curable.

my experience driving a 4RS at the 'Ring (OEM suspension) is that the rear of the car does not like "bumps" and the PSM will cut in regardless when it detects that the rear wheels lose traction with the road surface ... perhaps an aftermarket suspension with high+low speed compression/rebound might mitigate the root cause - I think this is the Manthey solution (with different springs also)
