Yes. Correct. Normal mode rides softer and Sport mode stiffens up dynamically to g-force.
You should zero the ride height sensors when you switch the controller to a different car because of different ride height. Zeroing the ride height sensors is unrelated to the calibration file.
I was under the impression that I needed a specific file for the specific car which was why I was emailing.
We did make specific files for each model back when we first introduced the controller. As we developed the technology further and further over the years, we learned the better approach is to utilize more of each model's specific OEM shocks & springs configuration from the factory by making the controller's command more actively to the driver's input to operate within the available range of the OEM parts.

DSC told me that the new controllers(I have a newer one) are actually smart enough to make adjustments on the fly and running the 991.2 GT3RS file was completely fine. I ran a 718 GT4 file on my other DSC for my 981 GT4 and worked perfectly. I know some touring owners also run a 991.2 3RS file.

Tom from TPC has send me specific files for the GT4RS....while a file from other models works it may not be optimized, specially if using one from a 911.
The last one he sent me for low traction surfaces helped tame some of the TC intervention on bumpy corners.

I believe it is both. It is over damped on the compression side (hence the pogo stick effect) and under damped on the rebound side, hence the rear end lifting up way too much on bumps. It is also a function of the internals of the shocks. You can only do so much with algorithms.
Also (at least on my GT4, not sure about the 4RS) the front and rear axles did not "talk" well together, especially noticeable when hitting a bump mid-corner with the suspension loaded up.
MCS made a WORLD of difference on both issues for me. Having said that, the inherit issue of the rear losing traction on tight bumpy turns is still present. Sure, you can dial that out with clicks on the MCS dampers, but then the whole car is too soft for high speed work. I think that is just a characteristic of the chassis and having struts in the back of the car.

I put a DSC on my GT4RS, it definitely made the suspension more "compliant" but it did not 100% fix the traction issue where you're in a canyon with a slow speed corner and uneven pavement trying to power out of it. Traction control light still lights up a ton and it struggles to put power down on the uneven canyon pavement. It did make the car smoother over bumps at speed/less bouncy and the car has more grip on turn in with the DSC. Worth trying for $1200. Although my DSC has a 991.2 3RS file because DSC refused to send me a GT4RS file unless I gave them more money.

That is bad advice for public roads. If TC is kicking on in a Porsche GT car (they are pretty leinent) that is telling you that you are over driving the car. Once a mid-engine car starts to rotate, it does so with authority.

I find that in Normal Chassis the street composure is perfect, in Sport Chassis everything is sharper and more immediate, perfect on smooth pavement like the track and when you are pushing it.

PCCB or iron brakes? I found that PCCB equipped cars exhibited less wheel bounce and felt more composed on rough roads.

What I would recommend is HPDE and skid pad training first until you get comfortable controlling the car and not having the car control you.

GT4 RS on track was not less in lacking precision, but could (Spyder RS only...) take it as an "old school" nasty personality and keep it as it is ,
just wondering if something let you set the rebound, maybe just an OEM fine tuning,
are compression/rebound mechanical settings allowed on the 718?

OMG reading this post I'm stating to regret selling my Exige V6 (which had the sublime nitrons 3 way from factory) to buy the GT4RS
I already bought Porsche motorsports toe links and front camber plates to do a proper alignment ..if that is not enough I will try DSC Sport 🫣

Some say 1 out of every 4 GT4 RS’ try to kill their owners. Something about “it’s the car that picks the driver” or something like that.
Best of luck with your suspension issues fellas.
If you’re super frustrated with it, you might consider selling it and getting a GT3 if you still want a GT car. It’s an easier car to drive quickly.
