EVO: later build 4RS had PASM change?
#16
I'm not saying this is definitely the source of the changes mentioned buy EVO. But from my experience with the car, it makes sense that the rear end would be updated. It was easy to break traction when pushing the car over bumps, and I always though the rear had too much shock in it.

The suspension software Porsche uses is frankly junk. Yes that's right I said it. It's off the shelf stuff they throw in. Don't ask me why they choose to setup their cars like this but it's true.
Every time someone complains about the chassis being too stiff I shake my head and wonder why Porsche doesn't just use DSC Sport from the factory or just take their time and program a good chassis suspension.
So how do you fix it.... if you want to fix it and stop complaining? Just get DSC sport and ALL your issues you don't like are gone.
It will be the best $1200 you will have spent on your precious. Trust me and thank me later. I have received many PM's thanking me for mentioning it and it's a game changer.

Race cars have compliant chassis and suspension tunes and are built not to upset the car, which the factory suspension tune sadly does.

From the factory the GT4 RS jarring ride is not acceptable. Don't try to convince yourself it is just because it's an RS it should be stiff, blah blah blah.

THIS!!!
My theory is (at least on the Cayman platform) they have to make the car stiff in order to keep toe change in check because they were stupid to begin with and put struts on the rear of the car. Less suspension travel and movement, less the rear-end gets out of wack from toe changes.
If you research it, softer set-up cars are almost always faster and have more grip than stiff cars, they just don't "feel" as sporty or direct because there is some compliance built in and that translates to the average driver as not as capable.
There is always a balance of course, you have to have the car stiff enough to feel confident at triple digit speeds, but not so much so that it is skipping along the road surface.

@mrd_spy As you know I have heard anecdotally from someone that had a MY23 car, and has just taken delivery of a late MY24 car today. Initial impression was that it does ride differently. However there are differences between the cars, chiefly going from Steel rotors on the old car to PCCB on the new car.. Same wheels though.
As a side note he also thinks his new WP car is louder on the inside than his former non-WP car.

I have one of the earliest 4RS's in America(vin 0026) and my PASM is fine. Yes I catch air going high speed over big bumps on the freeway or other places and the car struggles to get traction coming out of uneven pavement corners but I think any 4RS should be the same. I did install a DSC controller just to test it out(hey it was 1k) and it helped a bit but didn't transform the car or anything of that sort. I do have a MY25 SRS coming to compare side by side but obviously that's a completely different car.
