Spyder RS Allocation Thread
#511
I recently got a 992 GT3 at MSRP (configurable allocation) and I'll be one of the few to say that, IMO, the car is sort of worth MSRP, but it's not worth a substantial ADM. It's a fine car, but I believe it's generally overhyped. At well over $200k, there are lots of cars I'd choose over a 992 GT3. Saying this isn't in my financial interest, but it's my honest opinion.
I'm just looking forward to the newest 992 2RS.... that'll be really all I'll need.

We cannot use data prior to 2020 to make any guesses because today's market is just so different than anything we've ever experienced in the past. My conclusion is that SRS allocations will start at 75-100k for the "first" batch of cars that will come. Then it will drop to around 50k over and hold there until production ends. Porsche is very good about producing an amount that keeps exclusivity/markup's high. Just look at the GT3, they've made 4700+ cars and to get your own allocation its still 50k+ while used ones are also hovering around that amount with production about to end. Same thing with 4RS's, ADM's started at 100k+ and are now in the 50-75k range essentially with not many more new allocations being given out to dealers since production is switching over to the SRS. Unless of course we go into a real recession with 7%+ unemployment.
Conclusion: If you have $ and don't want to wait then SRS ADM's will be 75k-100k for the first 6-12months. 50kish or so after the first 12months until production ends. If you want one at MSRP without some type of relationship already in place, its like winning the lottery.

I wouldn't say raining but we've already seen a few Canadian "special" Spyders come up for sale because they received SRS allocations.

Exactly! The Turbo S is the true sweet spot. The GT3 to me has always been a fan boy car or bragging rights c&c type of ride. Pretty boring all around "but the sound " as being the main point of sell. The 3RS is a different story. The 4RS also, a pretty overhyped car, yet can honestly say not sure it's worth 2.5 times a regular GT4 to the average "driver".
I'm just looking forward to the newest 992 2RS.... that'll be really all I'll need.

Have you EVER owned a Spyder, GT3, GT3RS or GT2RS? Of course not, you're a self admitted Viper boy, new to this brand.
The 4RS is overhyped....makes sense since you admit to only using it for cruising flat TX roads.
Probably why you like the Turbo S.

You're delusional.

Oh no doubt its a great car if you have limited exposure to other types of cars.
The same reason Porsche Racing put the 918 platform in the 963 Race car! The new GT2rs will be a sharp lime drawn in the sand especially with how Porsche is making a major transition with it.
Ask a few of the 918/Carrera GT owners here what they think of their 4RS.
Keep pretending to have a clue.
