Spyder “accessory mode” and top operation
Am I dumb? Top is down. Drive home. Want to put top up for storage. I have to turn the engine off, and then turn the key back to accessory mode? One click of the key to the left is not accessory mode? One click left is off? Then I have to turn the key one click right to get to accessory mode, and then put the top up?
If this is correct it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen! Is there a way around this?

I don’t get it either, one click to the right should be enough but isn’t.

I don't recall ever turning the engine off first....I get to my destination, put car in park, pop trunk, put up top, then press top secure button and hold until windows roll up. Then I shut down car. Car is on lift currently, or I'd go try to verify those steps....

Consider coding the top. The US cars starts the top operation with the fob and ROW can start close as well. It's simple enough to be able to do the whole operation without entering the car (specially with bucket seats) or fiddling with the ignition, but PCNA lawyers won't let you.
Coding is two lines, one for comfort access and another for windows up after closing. Check the thread on coding in this section.

I don't understand the OP. One click left? There are three positions 0 - Off (key insert) 1- 1 Ignition On (1st turn right) and 2 Start Engine (far right)
I can't turn my key left after insert. There is no "Accessory Mode"
Most, if not all, of the electrical equipment requires position 1.
Is the complaint you have to have the key inserted and turned to position 1?

In my Spyder, the key must be "on" to close the top but the car does not need to be running. And when I want to open it I just hold the unlock button on the key to pop the trunk, lower windows, etc.

It is what it is - get a GTS if you want to just push a button. Did you not know the procedure before buying it?

Never seen such rhetoric on key position…lol.
Porsche does make cabs where a button does everything if it bothers you so much.

No need to be offended guys. I don’t mind putting the top up and down manually. The key thing makes no sense. Turn everything off, and then turn it all back on again, and then turn it all off.

I just press the top up button on the console when I am ready to put the top up ...
and now I have coded the top to lock with the keyfob ... nirvana

This sounds perfect! Can my dealer do this or do I have to buy a $1k piece of equipment and get a degree from Google? Does anyone know a person in PA who can do this (assuming my dealer can’t/won’t)? Thanks a million everyone!
