Default GT4 RS: have economics changed?

Question for the forum: how do you think about GT4 RS values now? On the downside, 1) Porsche will presumably focus on GT4 RS production after announcing the end of the GT4 and Spyder lines. The RS will be less scarce. 2) PTS and CXX are on hold until 2024, according to my dealer, 3) price increase from $149K to $163K brings highly-speced cars into the $220 - $225K range, just a chip shot away from Roma territory. 4) ADMs are $50 - 75K, maybe more in some areas, although I’m guessing there could be adjustments at the margin due to Porsche’s price increase. On the positive side, 1) the car is the pinnacle of the GT4 world and is among the last gas-powered GT4s.

Given a choice, a GT4RS will always be a better choice than a 992 GT3.

There was never a GT4RS before, and there won't be another one after. This is the last chance to get one. One and only chance actually.

There are 7 generations, soon to be 8, of GT3s for people to choose from. And even more down the line now that combustion engine is given a lifeline in the EU.

GT4RS is last of its kind, like a 993, last of the air-cooled. Not a few years ago, people think it's crazy to pay over 150k for a 993 turbo. Now they are at 200k, if not touching 300k for a really good one.

Everyone can speculate as much as they want but no one can predict the future. Nothing has changed in the mind of the dealers and they still want 60k+ for an allocation or a car incoming right now/sitting on the lot.

If anything, the GT4RS makes the (now discontinued) 718 GT4 look like an incredible bargain.

Too soon to say anything. I personally think it is insane to spend $300k on a gt4 rs (which is how much a highly specced one costs with ADMs) as it is getting into mclaren 720s territory and that car is a proper carbon tubbed supercar. Used 992 GT3s are now going for $250-260k while they were going for closer to $300k just a few months ago. Only time will tell what the market decides though.

The 10% bump in MSRP should bring down the dealer ADMs a bit. I believe that the biggest influence on near future transaction prices will be by how much, if any, RS production is increased. Also, Porsche has an excellent track record in increasing the performance of its vehicles no matter what obstacles government regulators through in their path. Remember the 70s and 80s? Sooner rather than later the GT4RS will be eclipsed by something even more desirable. I’m on a waitlist for an RS, but will keep my 2021 GT4 if my dealer demands any ADM.

Porsche is cranking out a ton of these 4 RS already, will be the most mass produced RS car in Porsche history. As I said before, suspect will be more 4 RS made than 992 GT3s. Yet people are paying higher ADMs for the 4RS which is bizarre. The price increase will help keep the used price propped up for sure. Glad mine is 2023

It's not bizarre -- the car is truly special and really fun regardless of the number made!

Imagine paying $300k for a Cayman and financing the majority at 9% on top of sales tax. Hello Montana!

I can't believe used GT3's are going for less than new GT4RS's. In Australia our market is not seeing that, however we pay a lot higher MSRP, but ADM is not allowed.

Used GT3's are for sale between $520k - $640k AUD ($347k - $427k USD) - also private car sales don't include stamp duty, so you potentially add another $30k AUD
New GT4RS's well specced will cost you $380-$400k AUD ($253k - $267k USD)

Comparatively, a new GT4RS is a bargain.

I think the unanswered question is "what will PAG do with the production capacity on the Zuffenhausen line now that they have ended GT4 and Spyder models?"

it may go to more 4RS'es it may go to 3RS'es ... it could go anywhere in the 992 model range... there is also the question of the RS Spyder ...

This....we don't know how they plan to use the extra capacity and have several new models in the pipeline.

I wonder if, given the numerous supply chain issues they are having that are manifest in the many options no longer available, they are even running the line at capacity!

Andreas Preuninger said they were building as many GT4RS cars as there are people wanting one. "Whoever wanted one would get one." So it's not going to be "rare" in the usual sense of the word.

He also said the GT3 engine wouldnt fit in the 718 chassis. You can't actually believe supply will meet demand because of AP's throw away line?

I think I have heard that old chestnut before (from AP) - and there are still people out there who had their name "waitlisted" for 991.2 GT3, 991.2 GT3RS, 981 and 718 GT4s, Spyders, 992 GT3s ... etc etc ... they are all still waiting ...

and ...

if that were the case, then I dont think the wisest among us would be willing victims of dealer ADM muggings...

YMMV
