This was my dream car purchase and certainly a 'lifer' with me, so I went for the extended leather and red stitching everywhere. Just a personal preference and makes the car 'feel' more upscale and special. Definitely does nothing for the thrill of the drive though as others have mentioned.
Same. I tend to swap cars every couple of years but they are usually either used or bought off the lot so this one I wanted all of the options that I wanted with the intention of keeping it for a long time. I did get performance options like PCCBs, LWBS, PDLS+ etc. and then I got stuff that I like that makes the car special to me such as Burmester, extended leather, dual zone, extended deviated stitching, etc. My money my car. It is all personal choice and what you are willing to spend. If it is a throw-away car or a track car then get a stripper. This is a car that I wanted to personalize to me and keep for a while so I spent almost a Civic Type R in options. Smart use of money? it depends. I could have bought almost seven Nissan Leafs for the same money and started a Taxi service but here I am.
I didn't go for it. Looks fine (to me) with a black plastic dash/red stitching, Bordeaux leather seats and black brushed aluminum. And I'm the only person who counts since I'm planning to keep it forever. I could care less about impressing other people... I do wonder if I should have done a leather seat back. But it's a 2 seater, and I only notice it on occasion since the car windows are tinted.
that looks like full leather to me if you have the contrasting stitching
I always order full leather even on my non-GT cars, but I skip the extended leather option.
What does the different categories of "leather" get you? I have the option 58 at $2160 and the car came with leather door panels and top dash. What does "extended" get you beyond that?
Rubber dash here, more often the car is at AutoX or Track, so leather adds no value there. Less worry about using the car in my mind, not worried about damaging leather with a windows down rainy track day

It depends what someone is referring to. "Full leather" to me means that someone speced everything in leather but people here seem to use it when they check the leather dash option. There is the extended leather dash option that fills in the portion where the windshield vents go in leather with matching stitching and the sport chrono hood in leather. It also gives you end of the dash when you open the doors in leather. Necessary? Absolutely not. But it is a nice finishing touch.
sorry for the confusion. yeah I wasn't referring to the extended side dash, upper dash vents etc. Just the "normal" up charge for the $2800 or whatever it was so you don't get the plastic dash and upper door panels with the textured material.
Also, the original comment is coming looking for used cars and their options, as the window to spec my own seems to have passed.

I mean i think that's subjective. For me the car is 100% worth every penny i spent on it. And i guess that is where it's subjective. For me 100k of the car is the engineering, and the extra 20k is the customization that i put into it. The fit and finish, the way it feels, the design. Fo me its the perfect sports car and i would gladly do it all over again if i had to. There was a part of me that was afraid that i'd regret buying it considering the Supra was such a good car. Great tuning from Toyota, solid engine from BMW, put down power really well and insanely quick. And its 1/3 the price of the GT4 without ADM. However the GT4 in the month that i've owned it, has given me a driving experience that only my S2000 has even started to approach. I know your complaints about the car. And again its all subjective, but for me this is one of the best cars i've ever driven both on the street and on the track, hands down.
Yes... Im a whiner and a broken record (my words not yours) and FWIW its a $125,000 car with $30,000 to 'fix' the engineering. Im still miffed (obviously) that Porsche sand bagged the car the way they did while it was hyped as 'the perfect sports car". Maybe im a $250,000 spend on a car kinda guy - and in that car I would get the leather (and PPF and try not to scrap the splitter)!

On my GT4, I specced it with standard interior as I prefer it over leather. It's a track-focused car for me, and I don't really care much for luxuries when on track.
On my GT4 RS, the Weissach package comes with race-tex dash, so I don't have a choice. If I did, I'd probably opt for the standard interior.
