getting my first oil change at the stealership (it’s free so…) and they ran into this on mine. They are totally baffled knowing nothing of this revision. Plug is supposed to be changed but they can’t find it in the parts catalog.

Ive reached out to them a couple times and they weren't sure what the kit consisted of....I got 2
different sets of answers.

My link is just for the oil tank drain plug.

Kits for 992 GT3 (and presumably the 4RS also) come with metal bodied spin-on oil filter, drain plug and separate crush ring for engine drain and oil tank drain plug (either metal with captive rubber o-ring or plastic cap version, depending on vintage of car).

yeah sorry, my info was what they actually have listed for the GT4rs on their website, and additional email dialogue.

They definitely have the wrong photo of the filter above (that's a cannister filter element type like on GT4) and they don't give choice of metal or plastic oil tank drain like GT3 does. I'd be tempted to order the GT3 kit...

Also got a bit of roadkill blood on the what I believe is aluminum subframe. What would be the best product to use on the rear subframe to clean?

Is this a GT4 RS? If so, what is the production date?

Those are the standard metal drain plugs (sump and tank). The tank only began to use a plastic plug very recently (second half of 2023).

You can see lettering around the circumference of the tank drain plug, which indicates that it is using the upgraded part (number ending in “B” that means it shouldn’t be too difficult to remove like the ones made for MY2022). If you want to be extra sure not to loosen the fitting, break loose while engine cold (as described in the Technical Service Bulletin).

Something like Simple Green is pretty safe. Rinse it off with water when done, just to be cautious.

ended up using a vinegar/water mix and all came off. followed it up and rinsed with water.

Bringing it back to Oil Change....Mobil 1 ESP Full Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-40 1 Quart

Autozone has a deal going on:

$37.99
Save on 5 Single Quarts of Mobil 1 Full Synthetic or Mobil 1 Synthetic High Mileage Motor Oil and an STP Extended Life Oil Filter

https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-a...rt/1177215_0_0

I ended up buying an oil filter for my 2000 Jeep Wrangler. I'm not sure if I can return it and still get the deal on the oil.

Grant, my car is an early 2023 with the metal plug. Just so I understand correctly, does this mean I will convert over to the plastic plug. Or, if it came with the metal plug I stick with the metal plug?

You’ll have to stick with a metal plug (and Suncoast should automatically give you the newest version where the part number ends in a “B” and there is engraved lettering around the circumference of the flat part of the plug). Don’t use an earlier version of the metal plug, if you can avoid it.

The plastic plug requires a different tank fitting (plastic stays plastic and metal stays metal).
