Is your usage case street or track?

IMO GT3 will not be as much fun on the street as Spyder (echoing some comments above). 500 hp cars including GT3 based on their amount of power and gearing are not super fun at slow speeds on road. For street driving experience, have you considering either a Cayman, Boxster or Carrera T?

GT3 engine, however, sounds incredible when you get it howling on a track. I just don't see many scenarios where you can keep it in it's >8000 rpm sweet spot on the street.

Street / back roads. I have considered the Boxster/Cayman and Carrera T but anything with a turbo engine is a show stopper for me. I realize the GTS 4.0 is N/A but at this point they are almost as a hard to get as GT cars haha

I guess I’m nobody because I got the Spyder at MSRP. My dealer is against charging ADMs (at least for that car…don’t know about GT3s and up)

It might be a good idea to ask as that is your end goal. Respect to the dealer for selling at MSRP, we need more of them across the US

Yea but how long did you wait and when did you actually close on the deal? Important for context. Seems like no one is getting an MSRP car now without having gotten on lists a long time ago.

If you're BLAH about getting one of these, at any price let alone MSRP, then you need to consult a physician!

^^Couldn’t agree more. Brilliant car. Just back from a fall run. It never gets old. Recently added OAP’s and collars on exhaust opening. Even better. What a difference.

As someone who currently has both (718 Spyder and 992 GT3), I would not be “blah” about it. GT3 is amazing, and great on track but I find it too much on crappy UK roads. Spyder is near damn perfect for road use, and has additional benefit of having the roof off on sunny days. Had some quite memorable drives already and not even taken it to the Alps yet!

My goal is to keep both. And if I had to pick one, for road use, it would be the Spyder.

Caveat, mine is PDK and I think that gearbox really suits the car, perhaps makes it. I had a 718 GT4 manual when they were first released and no regrets of letting that one go.

Well, just because you're lacking the necessary motivation at the moment here's a little extra push

I agreed to buy a Spyder from a dealer I had a relationship of several years with to "help them in late 2021" for MSRP. When it arrived they tried to charge me 10k ADM. Beware that buying a spyder in reality may not help you get a GT3 Touring anytime soon or ever.

yeah I'd say the only doubt I'd have is that the dealership might claim it will help you get a GT3T but in reality you just don't know. They could say whatever they want and you kind of have to take their word for it. Also the whole "needing a buying history" I think is just totally stupid as its not a practice enforced by Porsche and is only done by specific dealers who like to make it seem like its this super exclusive club. And in a way it is, but not for the reasons they claim its for. I really don't like the whole "you need to buy a bunch of cars you don't want in order to get the car you want". Like no I'm not wasting money and time on something that just doesn't appeal to me.

Allocation received on January 3rd, car picked up on September 3rd at MSRP. June delivery got pushed to July then August due to chip shortages, Ukraine war, port strikes etc.
