Also had it on my '18 and used it all the time, 3 cars with kessey E&D I've learned to leave my key on the dash when washing the car.

I didn't realize this was a thing! Just tested it out on my 23 GTS and it works.

Ugh!! Having had the feature on my 2017 C4S, I really want it for my 2022 Boxster 25 Years, and just had my front bumper off to do a "Neodyme Grill Delete" operation. Total PITA BTW to disconnect and reconnect a few of the connectors plus the washer hose without cutting up the back of your hand.

Once it is confirmed as 100% possible with the correct sensors and coding, then I guess the bumper is coming off yet again now that it is stored for the Winter!

However, from the look of the location of the sensor, do you think it is possible to slip it in without unplugging the washer connection again? I recall being able to slide the bumper cover forward about 2-3” prior to disconnecting the front washer hose to remove the cover from the car itself.

Lastly, so the correct wiring harness is already installed if you have D&E/E&D option, but the front sensor shell is just hollow without the required electronics inside, huh? Geez!!

How much do the sensors run approx $101 each (x2) and both the front and the rear are the same exact 911 part number?

Correct for the part #. Check if you have the dummy sensors installed to make sure that you have the correct wiring harness. As far as if the washer hose removal is required or not, I will let @Z06jerry chime in. You will need to code the front and rear sensors with PIWIS. They were not enabled on 2022 BGTS. You can get a used sensor for less than $50.

Strange my 2022 992 delivered in May has the feature, first noticed when frunk popped open while washing the car.

Unfortunately, I did not take enough pictures of the back side of the front bumper, nor at the correct upwards viewing angle to just see if the dummy sensors are there when I had the bumper removed, so I guess it will need to come off again, unless having done this before, someone recognizes the correct wires running to that general area along the washer fluid hose.

Also, I wonder if it is easier to remove front or the back bumper to check? At least with the back bumper, you wouldn't have to contend with the PITA washer hose connection. 😬

You have to remove the bumper to install the proximity sensor so yes the washer hose needs to be disconnected too. It pops apart easily at the white connector by simple squeezing the spring clamp. I removed the front wheels and and the front half inner fender liner (only 5 screws) and removed them to gain an easy access to safely release connectors. Be gentle, you do not want to damage the connectors or harness.

Makes sense, they saved the proximity sensors they had for the more expensive 992s

Pretty sure I see the sensor's mounting bracket peeking out from behind the washer hose that goes across the front. The wires for the sensor go into the parking sensor harness and are the outer 2 of the brown connector on the drivers side.

Here's an upward closeup of mine for comparison...

Gueesing the rear will be easier, I'll be able to answer for sure in a week or so when my 2nd sensor arrives (and my Garage gets warm enough!)

Eagerly awaiting your results. Document with plenty of pics. Thanks SO much for your assistance. Removing the front bumper wasn’t crazy hard, but not as easy as it could have been had I owned a floor jack and jack stands. However, slow and steady works fine.

Same - I'm also very interested in doing this. Can't believe Porsche isn't going to retrofit the '22 models with these!

I thought the rear bumper might be easier to remove than the front, but I think it might be a bit more time-consuming due to the rear spoiler and taillights needing to come off. The front bumper is pretty straightforward, but it took my about 5x longer than necessary because I don't have jack/jack stands and did not remove the wheels nor fender liners completely. If you do all the things I didn't, the front is a piece of cake. The rear bumper = TBD.

This job should come with a warning " do not attempt without removing wheels and front fender liners" ... lol!

FWIW Porsche did give a small credit for the missing feature, in Canada it was $130., the labour cost for a Dealer to install and code would be a lot more and my Dealer said it couldn't be done.

NOR without a jack & jack stands to remove the wheels! 😁

It was still a fun project though despite falling asleep on the garage floor at 4:30AM! Long night! 🤣

Yes, always a good idea to support the car before removing any wheels.
