Driving through a cloud of fog isn’t nice either with this “assistant”

I have my 718 spyder equipped with bixenon pdls. I would linke to upgrade to pdls led, not pdls+.

Anyone has experienced this kind of upgrade. I know that going up to pdls+ is a lot of work but i was wondering if just upgrading pdls xenon to pdls led it s possible to do or there is wiring to do as well.

Thanks

I 100% agree with @Ramon Vennik and his characterization of LED PDLS+...the 'assistant' feature is poor (as I routinely experience the late-to-dim performance on my Spyder). I simply don't understand the fascination with the desire for PDLS+. (My incoming CGTS is Xenon PDLS.)

I have no experience with the 'base level' lights...but to me the Xenon PDLS is the sweet spot of the options. Xenon PDLS is standard on GTS cars and a $1500 option on GT4/Spyder.

IMO, if you have Xenon PDLS, you should be thrilled with that...plenty of other areas of the car where you can make some great upgrades.

100%

All the additional electronic crap and cost of replacement is simply not worth it.

Reading this thread makes you conclude everyone drives their 718 at night!

It is more than that. Since the camera on shortage is required for both PDLS+ and to see the speed limit indicator.
I think it's normal to assume that a >$100k car with over 400HP would tell you the speed limit.

Or you could just use your eyes.

Thumbs down So, do we stop looking for excellence?

I don't know why there's a significant number of people defending the brand from stopping offering us good options. Didn't you spec PDLS+ and the speed limit indicator in your 718 GT4 🤷‍♂️?
At least give the option to the customers to leave the order on the queue paused till these options are available rather than either removing it or going ahead.

Some people recently received 718 GTS, Spyder, and GT4s with xenon lights, and if they had waited one more month, the PDLS option without high bean would have been available. I've seen a few posts of new owners asking how to retrofit the LED lights.

By this logic, I can also say we don't need Apple CarPlay because I can use my eyes to read the signs. Come on! We are in 2022.

Be careful of what you wish for. The next iteration of that camera might lock your speed at the posted limit. Be a shame on Moonshiner 28 in the Smokies. 🤣

Agree completely. The obsession is so weird. How much night driving are you people doing that this is really a concern to you? I have LED with PDLS+ and they are functionally no different than any other xenon or LED headlights I’ve ever had. Most of you all don’t even drive in the rain, or if the temp is below 50, or if there is *gasp* salt on the road, or , or , or. Hard to believe there’s a bunch of night time road warriors out there that desperately need whatever marginal lighting performance is gained by PDLS+.

Do the 1Lap and you will appreciate the xenon PDLS lights over the base lights. Other than that a lot of the crying is all about looks not function.

Allocations are given to dealers, dealers order cars for customers, JIT manufacturing process has rough parts requirements ordered far in advance and exact part requirements ordered at lock... When a hiccup occurs in the supply chain, it's not so easy to just 'pause' an order and wait. What goes down the line in that cars place? Nothing? What happens to the dealer who is expecting one of their very limited allocations to convert to a sale?

Does it suck? sure... But what Porsche is doing is FAR better than how many (I'll even say most) other auto manufacturers are dealing with supply chain hiccups...

You don't have a need for optimal lighting performance for night driving does not mean other shouldn't have. Some people like me do drive at night in country roads without street lights and there are animals wondering on the roads so it is a safety feature as far as I am concerned.

I feel the need for Luminars Iris Lidar for some.
Well, everything said, I could do without pdls+ , I’ve a 981 with bi Xenon and 982 with pdls+.
It isn’t the 992 pdls+ you’re getting/missing.
