I always love those bids that somehow jump 5 figures way in advance of the auction actually ending. Saw someone recently post up a bid at like 90% of FMV about 1 minute after auction started, like c'mon man.

If it wasn't PDK, I'd be all over this one... but the price is creeping.

I never understand why bids stay so low for so long. If you're a serious buyer, why not bid a car like this to at least $80-90k right away. It's not like it's selling for $50k.

At this point, I think I'll wait a year or so. The Spyder was for my vacation home that I just got, so I think I'll put a new Miata there for now since, 1) I've always wanted one, and 2) I don't know how much play time I'll have for the first year or so as we get the house set up.

Why, you selling?

What's wrong with that? You could also argue all the bidding up well below the reserve price is just wanking. I think it's a different strategy than waiting until the last minute. You bid something that may or may not be close to the reserve but is still a decent deal for yourself early and maybe it kills a lot of the momentum and interest in the auction for other onlookers, especially if the auction isn't no reserve. I don't think there's anything wrong with this or why it bugs you.

Yup, shenanigans for sure. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can really explore the GT500's "attributes."

From my understanding BaT puts a CC hold when you bid and the amount of that hold is based on a % of your first bid, so if you're bidding on a ton of cars it makes sense to get in a lowball bid early so you dont rack up a buncha large CC holds.

Depends on the brand and the dealer. Our 981 GT4 was purchased private party and carried its CPO warranty. Byers Porsche in Ohio helped us with some issues the car was having, they even reviewed track day video footage which was the only place the car would demonstrate the issue. I can't say I ever expected a dealer to review track footage for a warranty claim, but it was a pretty cool experience.

It doesn't bug me so much as I'm not interested in buying a car. But I think it helps prop values to a certain extent. These things do fluctuate on all makes and models, but if people always throw vanity bids in then it muddies things versus just letting it play out. Auctions are always determined not by how much the winning person is willing to pay but by how much the 2nd place person is willing to pay. If for some reason there are only two people in the room bidding on a car that traded at $100k recently and person number two stops at 50k and person #1 wins, then thats the auction. But if you have a bunch of people saying "this car deserves to be $100k" and throw in sideline bids to get it there, doesn't that kind of skew things? I also see on BAT so many users with hundreds of bids and zero wins always in the same auctions by the same dealers, maybe these people are unlucky or maybe they're bored or just shilling for their friends.

But at the end of the day, I don't care too much and have no reason to.

how is it bloated? the Bose or leather interior? Otherwise the high $ options (PDLS, PCCB, buckets, etc) are typically desirable no?

i do agree though, the yellow stitching with green trim is…. ambitious
