If Im gonna spend double or more its gonna be a GT3 or Turbo S or go the other direction and get an older version like a 997
Why didn't you buy the one that was offered to you at MSRP a while back?

My $.02. Porsche is always looking towards the future and they are very limited in their ability to make reactive decisions to sales/demand. They plan production schedules and parts orders well in advance, as they follow the Just in Time production methodology. The production numbers for the GT4 RS were communicated at ~7,000 units and 2 to 2.5 years of production (Source: Andreas Pruenger - Note there was limited 2022 production, but none made it to the states). My guess is that, once that number is hit, productions ends, which may or may not require MY25 production. They will likely focus any remaining MY25 production to the Spyder RS, since I'm sure they have a production number planned for that as well.

FYI Porsche always sends about 35% of GT/RS production to America so if 7,000 world wide holds true then we will see 2,500 cars in North America. We are at about 2,000 right now. 0 chance they make more RS’s than GT4’s since that has never happened in the history of Porsche.

I could see them kicking out another 1k units of GT4RS for US.
Could careless what it does for my resell value, or losing on ADM.
Cars are supposed to be driven and go down in value, the past 4 years are not typical.
991 GT3's and GT3rs dropped in value 2-3 years after release, similar to 997 GT3/GT3RS.
Hope more people get them, and track the $hit out of them!

I will confess that I got the 4RS in part because I thought it would hold value, and I do want this one to hold value. I'll track it, but it's not going to be heavily beaten up on track nor modded. I have full PPF on the car with ceramic, and I plan to keep it looking good. With my 991.1 GT3, I was ok with tracking the car heavily and devaluing it.

I think you’re not alone on this. Same as my mentality when I had it. Now just looking for another one bc it was a riot on street and track for a year and 3K miles.

I mean it will hold value relatively. Can’t expect them to perform the same like COVID time. I think they will hold value well vs other new car at the same price range.

I do think they will end up making more RS than the GT4. Just because it never happened before doesn't mean it wont happen. Porsche is here to make money and to make cars. If the RS demand sustains a higher production number than the GT4, then I think porsche will continue to produce. I don't think they are going to say oh no we cant make more than the GT4

I’m pretty sure they make more money selling SUVs and base 911s, right?

But to your point, they know an S/T would sell like hot cakes if they made more. Demand for that car is definitely more than 1963 units but they choose not to make more.

So 500 more units for MY2025 for the US market?
Thats quite a few more and I am sure many who are on the fence will get their opportunity to purchase one

I don't think that is enough... 20 people is on the list in one of the dealership I called. Heck it won't be enough if they make 1500 more.

It will be interesting to see what happens in terms of net new allocations to dealers. My dealership does not expect to receive any more new 4RS spots at this point.

Order locks 6/11, delivery in Oct timeframe (though guessing later based on known prod delays). It will be interesting to see if they make a MY25, I will be a tad annoyed if they introduce new colors because Shark (my preference) and Ruby are currently on stop-order.

We won't know about the 4RS's ultimate value down the road for 10 years or more. If you follow the case of the 7.2 RS's from 2010/11 it took that long for them to peak. Will they peak at 100K over MSRP like low mileage PTS cars did? I don't think so. But they will appreciate. It fits the unique RS category for sure. I think the 9K 4.0 Motorsport engine is the key. As far as how many they are going to make? Another 1000-1500? I doubt it. Making more units to make more money is a fallacy. These are low margin vehicles. Production line time and capability of new models and high margin vehicles is far more important.

Well to be honest Im a bit torn. While I would like to have a 4RS or even more so the SRS I really really LOVE the GT4 especially given the MCS 2ways and line exhaust and ECU tune, etc... ive just settled in nicely to the GT4. I dont really enjoy the track that much so the added power of the RS is not super important. I could probably still finagle MSRP with a trade in and maybe buying the wife a 992.2 but it feels like a lot of work at this point. Im not into these cars to have a stable of them or make money or try the next greatest version, or even try too breakeven... So a more likely scenario is I will just keep my GT4, continue complaining about the 4RS and then take a hard look at the GT4E when that comes out in 2027? Or just make the leap to GT3 or Turbo S but right now that seems like it would be a sad day on several levels just because the Cayman in any flavor is too much fun...
