Congrats on your NEW GT4RS purchase!. If you don't mind where are you located? I just heard of another person in my area with the same description of ADM and delivery dates? from a car located in Springfield, MO Porsche dealership.

It is probably my favorite Porsche I have ever driven (even 997 GT ahhhh I know..., it's so much more toss-able/agile/better chassis). It exceeded my expectation by just a ton, and the more I track it and drive it, the more I like it, and the 991.2 3rs was the opposite of that, excitement just wanned over time.....I got so bored of the GT3RS because PDK and the chassis is just boring at anything under triple digits on the 991.2 3RS, but the 718 cayman platform is 10x as fun as the 991 was at any speed.

I am tempted daily at getting a 4RS....and I know time is fading to order one. For not being a manual, I don't think there is a better Porsche ever made, nor will ever be made tbh.

Hearing statements like yours make me second guess what I am doing over here
Don't drive one! You'll be scrambling for your checkbook. If you were in Mpls I'd let you go for a rip..

I agree with you on the 4RS being the best (PDK) Porsche ever made, but what’s your take on the 991.2 GT3 Touring in comparison? For driver involvement and as a touring car for road trips?

This is my experience as well. I currently have a 981 gt4 obviously in a manual and wanted nothing more than a gt4RS. 5 minutes behind the wheel and I was bored of the pdk, lack of engagement and I was itching to get back into my manual. The torque curves are pretty much identical in the two cars but the interior induction noise was insane in the gt4RS. I’d love to add the gt4 rs to my line up of cars but I’m not trading a manual gt4 for it. I’m 38 and I’m old school that I want engagement over anything else.

PDK gearing in the 4RS is amongst the best that Porsche has ever fit in a road-going vehicle. The foundational experience is short gearing and lightning-quick PDK - it's kind of the whole point of what the 4RS is (and any other modern / RS badged Porsche). It would not be a better car with a manual, it would be quite the opposite.

I owned a PTS 981 GT4 6MT for 4 years before buying my 4RS. I kept it after buying the 4RS thinking it would be a perfect 2 car garage and I could have the manual experience + PDK in the 4RS. I sold the 981 GT4 after about 4months because I would have to force myself to grab its keys compared to always wanting to drive the 4RS. As a total package its hard to prefer a manual gt4 to the PDK 4RS. It's now been 6months+ since I sold the GT4 and I don't miss the manual at all.

hmm. Manual versus pdk touring or gt3 I’m going manual every time. Would you say the same if Porsche came out with a gt4rs with a manual like the s/t is.

The car you are looking for then is a 997.2 GT3 (or RS)

sure those would be great but would be even better to have the new tech and interior with the same formula. Options are good!

If I would have gotten a 991.2 manual GT3 instead of the GT3RS I got....I'd probably still own it. It's that awesome for sure

I still like my 718 GT4 more than either of those experiences as far as FUN goes. The 718 platform is a trail braking machine and pivot turns like a beast on tight corners. The smaller size just equals more fun, It FEELS about 1k pounds lighter than the 991.2 probably just because the size and smaller tires. Someone mentioned the gearing and no one ever complained about the 997 GT's having long legged gearing and the 718 GT4 has almost the identical speeds in each gear. So....Porsche GT manuals have been long legged for awhile now and when you go to the track is makes WAY more sense. I top out in 4th in my GT4 at buttonwillow going into the last corner after the S's. it would be weird to be in 5th gear there imo.

If your bringing the wife and need a bigger cabin and space, the 991.2 GT3 manual for a touring car is great. The 718 felt cramped at first coming from 991.2, but now I am totally used to it, really doesn't even feel small anymore, and the two trunks makes it shockingly usable for a lot of things.

If someone wanted to have fun at low speeds around town, I'd say a 993 is probably as good as it gets. But that cabin is SMALL for touring.

Exactly my thoughts, the 997.2 3rs I love, but the ship has sailed there as it's now over a decade old and the GT4RS is a way better machine. Porsche really has amazing too many amazing cars to have to get something that old. I am here to push the **** out of my cars, and don't want to do that with something super old now that things can (and most likely will) go wrong. If you want a trophy car for light spirited driving, 997 GT cars are absolutely epic.

Only reason I still have my scud that's now 16 years old is Ferrari is making TRASH and has for a decade now. Literally just drove the 296 GTB and couldn't believe how soft and boring and light and disconnected not only the steering is, but the whole damn car. The G80 M3 I rented in europe 6 months ago was a lot better sports car imo

all 993's are amazing, 996 GT's are, 997 GT's are, 991 GT's are, 718 GT's are....Porsche doesn't miss....

As someone who progressed from 981 GT4—> —>991 GT3 —> GT4RS (along with a 6MT 993 C2S) and now 992 GT3 touring..gotta say even around town it’s the best especially in PDK..way bigger than a 993 and more comfortable for cruising.

BUT..still think about the 4RS and how the shifts hit different and the LWB. While my ears were ringing after going on small road trips in that car with the wife I still wanna get back in one at some point! The front end didn’t feel as good as the 992 GT3 front end but much more tossable

IMO ideal garage is prob 991.2 touring with sofas and GT4RS with buckets
