The 718 Spyder RS Discussion Thread
#1006
From the interwebs:The ISA system
The ISA system is required to work with the driver and not to restrict his/her possibility to act in any moment during driving. The driver is always in control and can easily override the ISA system.
The ISA regulation provides four options for systems feedback to the driver, from which car manufacturers will be free to choose from:
The other possible feedback relies on the pedal restoring force - it will push the driver’s foot gently back to make the driver aware and help to slow down. The driver can ignore this feedback and override the system by pushing slightly harder on the acceleration pedal. Even in the case of speed control function, where the car speed will be automatically gently reduced, the system can be smoothly overridden by the driver by pressing the accelerator pedal a little bit deeper.
---------
Just some context. It's kind of funny that, to override it, you just go faster!

- Haptic feedback through the acceleration pedal

I wonder if you can override it immediately, on the audible alarm. "Oh yeah? Watch this!"

nothing is wrong, but I would be surprised if they diluted the "RS" brand name which has been exclusively used to describe "track focused" models since at least the 993 generation, if not then definitely since the 996 GT3 RS...

Since those are euro regs, I am sure it would be trivial to find and defeat the audible. I am guessing new code to flash with this system defeated (in the US) will be available overnight. Heck, the dealer might do it for you.

The US market production is around 1/3 the total global production for most Porsche sports cars. If they were really going to make 1000 Spyder RS for USA, that would mean making roughly twice as many per year than the regular Spyder, or doing a two year run with roughly the same production volume as the regular Spyder.
For it to be a rare car that’s harder to get than a regular Spyder, a one year production run of 1000 worldwide including 350 for USA would be a more plausible number. If they want to be extra rare, maybe 718 worldwide, with 250 for USA.

Back to the topic of the thread: I do not like the top on the prototype, which I assume everyone has seen by now, and for that reason alone I will keep my "regular" Spyder.

I'm also #1 on a local dealer's Spyder RS list so excited to see a prototype as I wasn't sure this was even going to exist. I'm confident that the Spyder RS will look great with the hood on or off. I expect it'll be PDK only so I'm currently planning on keeping my GT4.

It was reported a month back that it’ll have a removable top.
Hopefully there is a lot of cosmetic work on the top and snorkels…I agree looks like hell

Well, I was wrong. Cleaning lady's cleaning lady's cleaning lady saw my post and called me out for being a numnuts. Looks like top is different from regular spyder. I'll shut up now.
