no - a Speedster perhaps but never an RS ...

RS "formula" is:
- wider track, tuned suspension, typically rubber replaced with solid/rose joints PASM retune
- better aero F&R
- lighter CF body panels
- more rubber (larger contact patches)
- modified "GT" engine w/incremental power output over GT baseline
- since 991 RS PDK only transmission
I was thinking the same thing. 718 Speedster seems possible but never a 718 Spyder RS. Probably would have the 4RS engine with a redesigned intake, the same way the Speedster has a GT3 engine but doesn't have the ram air intakes seen on the GT3. This car would probably be manual only, also like the 911 Speedster. I think the target would be less towards track pace and more towards experience, like the 991.2 Speedster. So probably few aero and performance upgrades and more focus on driving experience. Possibly shorter gear ratios for a more fun street experience.

Zero chance they are doing a new manual gearbox for this old platform. If they can't do it via parts bin it won't happen

They already build that…it’s called the 718 Spyder.

I don't own an Speedster but from what I've seen in pictures the 991.1 Speedster has a very hefty RAM air intake that is increased even more when the retractable wing is deployed .

The requirement of having the intake at the back gives you much more options as for a mid engine car IMO.

If Porsche went ahead with the "hardcore" side window intake idea means to me that there's not more options for this platform without requiring an expensive redesign.

I was surprised that Porsche approved the GT4 RS with that intake , I reckon that the RS might give them the freedom of doing extreme things, which is great !! this will be an awesome car as we have always known that the big problem of the past gen have been the restricted air intake.

Back to the Spyder , I think that the only space would be on the side plastic , the one with the Spyder badge , were the top is attached. If Porsche were doing that we should have seen that prototype already.

Here's are some pictures of the Speedster intake , is quite well hidden, but is not small.

As other have said , Spyder is the mid engine Speedster already .

Does the thought of a Spyder RS make me happier than the Spyder sitting in my garage? And if I owned an RS, would the thought of an RS.2 make me happier than the RS? Is the RS is just another mirage on the horizon? I wonder.

Porsche should just do a production 718 model of the Bergspyder and can call it a Spyder RS.

To be honest…
I told them the same thing.

I was like
“impossible to have RS roofless”
”make no sense”
”where the wing would go?”
“How about extra intake on rear glass”
go on and on
etc.

Then they were like…
Calm down I’m not trying to argue with you.
I’m just informing you that there is going be and Spyder RS coming.
debut to public nov 2021.
They weren’t joking though.
I mean I still don’t believe this.
But They really are reputable authorized dealer
and only one in country.
I already put down the money for first one delivery in this country anyway. It’s refundable if not happening.
well… will see.

Im seriously not try to prove anything.
I’m just really concerned and hope to get more info about it.

Yeah that's the good thing,, if you're not doing anything with thet money at least it's refundable and better to have it down than not. We already have plenty of rumors on the GT4 RS at this point

Even if real, I’m thinking the current spyder hits the sweet spot already, in most regards. Any big changes will likely come with a big price increase, and the car will likely be very compromised for road use.

I know I love topless track work, but is there a market for an expensive, street compromised, convertible (or topless)? I guess people buy 488 pista spiders. And as I said above, if this IS the ICE swan song, none of the usual rules would apply, I don’t think. The sky’s the limit. It won’t outdo the gt3, of course, but might near cost as much.

It is intriguing to think how they would significantly up the ability (without new engine). I guess Porsche has made a living selling small to medium incremental improvements.

I would think we would have seen spy shots if such a thing was coming...

Put up a pole.

Higher spec Spyder will happen.

Porsche needs to amortize ICE expenses while they can. A companion to GT4RS makes a lot of sense for profits.

It would be great if sometimes people would look up the definition of words before they use them in a sentence.

Let's start with "confirmed".
