Was given a dealer estimate of 115K a couple of months ago; 6k miles with the brand-new engine.

Without giving us the MSRP, that number doesn't mean anything.

Not a ton of back and forth, but $128 is not too shabby

That car was for sale on rennlist at 140k. I offered 126k, seller said he had offers at 130k so I bowed out. Who knows if the other offers were solid, but if they were he lost out on about $2350 by selling on bat.

GT4's don't seem to be fetching over $8k above MSRP ($13k with fees) on public auctions. A low mileage Miami Blue car with buckets and pccbs is a pretty nice spec so the fact that it sold where it did kinda tells the story. Time of year might be a factor here though.

I do think the car market (new & used) has peaked for appreciating values. It might hold steady for a bit, but as they say, what goes up, must come down. This is not the real estate market, the auto market will self correct.

This is one reason I would never pay over MSRP. Unless you have FU money and do not care about some losses, paying over MSRP is just poor money management.

Yeah I don't see the bottom falling out, but it looks like prices are not gonna keep climbing for the GT4, especially since new GT4's are hitting dealerships again and the GT4RS is coming. I think a lot of dealers and flippers figured they could charge similar markups as 991.2 GT3's but I don't think there were ever a lot of GT4 customers out there chomping at the bit to buy used cars at $20k-30k over.

Perhaps you are overstating it. The "normal" market is distorted for vehicles by not considering region. As we learn here on RL -- SoCal (and Seattle, etc.) readily bear higher prices than other regions and demand (and incomes) in those regions are strong. We are also informed by our neighbors to the north that sometimes laws are passed with the intention of protecting consumers (through not allowing sales over MSRP) which itself could be considered a market distortion/inefficiency --- and a relief to those who live there!

MSRP is fixed nationwide in the USA. However, the cost of running a dealership varies alot by region. The cost of delivering the cars to the dealers from PAG must certainly also vary. We east-coasters are subsidizing your shipping costs, Cali! Lol!

"Poor money management" is a topic for another forum, right? I'm no expert by any means, but in simple terms none of us should buy these vehicles (at any price or "deal") if it messes up other important life choices -- like debts that effect you, stress on your significant other or family, or otherwise diminishes the enjoyment of life. Some here (not me!) could pay double the price and just move on and enjoy life, as they are in a different situation.

Buying a Corvette is whole other matter. Wink

I pinged my car around to a few dealers and wholesalers the week before Christmas in the the NW area. Selling out right not trading in on another vehicle.

21 GT4, LWB, steel brakes, 4700 miles, PPF full front, window tint and a msrp 123k and was offered 130k by two wholesalers. They believed market for the car was 140-155k. My selling dealer didn’t even offer a number which I couldn’t believe. Amazing how eager people are to sell you a car and then could care less about ya after the sale.

I agree that the bottoms not falling out.

New GT4s hitting dealerships? I only see 2 new ones in the nationwide search tool and no guarantees those even available.

PCNA just reported 4th QTR numbers and like 3rd QTR 2021 718 deliveries down about 30% compared to 2020. This confirms what RL’rs report on allocations through summer fall.

Overall PCNA numbers up for the year, but for some reason 718 took a big dent in 3rd 4th quarters compared to 2020. Perhaps a push for 992/GT3?

I find it all depends on if they have a buyer lined up. If they do or at least think they do then they are willing to talk. Most dealers don't want to tie up their floorplans for extensive periods of time with high-dollar GT cars.

Buyer paid $13k over sticker for a 2020 car (+ shipping unless they are local in Alabama). This is the same car that by most accounts Porsche is continuing to keep taking orders for at least through 2022 model year. If you are willing to play the ADM game and be a little patient, you could probably order a brand new GT4 specced identically for the same or cheaper. The only problem is if you absolutely MUST have Miami Blue, since that color is no more.

That buyer paid a premium to get a nicely specced GT4 now instead of waiting and hoping for new. But around 10k to 15k over sticker seems to be where the market is right now for used very low mileage GT4s AND new orders. (Maybe a bit more of a premium for new orders in some geographic regions.)
