Your banking information isn’t "naked" when you plug your phone in lol

Dan, post your credit card number here and I'll see if it has been compromised.

Your phone system and everything including it's microphone has already been hacked...

Keeping a banking app on a phone these days is roulette...

Keystroke recorders will show your password/s...

Also be careful what you say with your phone around........

Canada has new hacking authorization, just ask the Ottawa Truckers...

Cheers!

Yeah, I don't know, but a little spooked after talking with a cyber security expert. You know that there is a "Shields Up" alert from the DoD regarding cyber security risks at the moment? It seems like serious stuff, and that there are many doors that they can enter to get into your stuff. As an example, this guy was invited to a conference to show how easy it is to hack into somebody's stuff. He went on eBay, bought some equipment, and stood at the entrance of the hall to greet the people coming to his lecture. What they didn't know is that equipment in his backpack was capturing a ton of information on them. His colleague then processed the info while he was speaking and they did some redacted information that he did with that simple capture. If you don't have your credit cards shielded, at least do that. But some of the other stuff is nuts.

So, I was a banker for two years, then an IT tech/exec for 40 plus....

Including a term as an advisor on "key escrow" (public key technology) to the UK government (Tony Blair years)...

Government and private sector hacking is endemic, hopefully unless you are a "bad person" you will be OK...

But the Ottawa Trucker donors found out how serious it can get....

I would never keep a banking app on my phone, and every week or so I print out my balances, just in case they disappear overnight...

Cheers!

Funny that you mention this (maybe I should say sad...) anyway, I too do this, I always feel a little uneasy that any money I have is only represented by numbers on a computer screen... today you see it, tomorrow maybe you don't!

@Dan Nagy I don't think you have anything to worry about in regards to the wireless carplay device, but it's not a hassle for you to just plug your phone into the car either, and if it makes you feel more secure then just do it that way.

Well, I have gone to two-factor authentication on just about everything and just changed all my passwords again. It's a scary cyber world. The sad thing is that I work in advance manufacturing technology integration, mostly digital, and industry needs digital experts all day long. These people could easily make a good, honest living.

I wanted the fancy wheel-cleaning stand that Larry from AMMO NYC uses for off-car cleaning wheels and applying sealant/coatings, but it's $250. Found this at Harbor Freight for $30:

It's intended for motorcycles, but tried it on a wheel from my truck and it still works. It doesn't have the upright arm with the vertical roller for stability like the fancy one, so I plan to put a towel down in case it falls, but for $30 it'll do.

Also ordered this wireless CarPlay adapter:

It had all 5-star reviews on
Amazon Amazon
and was on sale with a $10 coupon. We'll see how it works.

Saw this in a YouTube video. At $168, I think I may try it.

If the Harbor Freight one didn't work, I was going to buy that one. Let me know how it works out if you do pick it up.

It doesn’t look wide enough to work properly… have you tried it with your cars wheels?

This one appears that it would work with the 295’s

It's tough to tell from this pic, but the rollers stand proud of the frame enough that you can basically fit any width tire on there. My car is due into port this Saturday so haven't tried it on 295s, but I have 265s on my truck and it worked with those. I do agree wider would be better if only for stability.
