What did you buy your 718 today?

EDIT: Please see my later post 873 (https://rennlist.com/forums/718-gts-...l#post18026753) not recommending this setup after all.
I'm now prepped for better recording of autocross and track runs (better than I can get with my dashcam). Coupling Harry's Lap Timer Gran Prix Edition with a Bluetooth 10hz high-resolution GPS tracker (the box with the red disk at the upper right) and the Bluetooth ODBLink MX+ (up to 30hz on iPhone) I should be able to get fairly accurate data along with video from my iPhone 12 Pro Max.
In a simple test the Dual XGPS160 was tracking 17 satellites (11 GPS and 6 GLONASS) at 10hz for very high positional accuracy. The mounting position shown gives it a good view of the sky. It is mounted with Velcro so I can take it down when not in use. It has a rechargeable battery so there's no cord.
With the OBDLInk MX+ I could see only a hint of lag - probably 200ms or less in my experience. The update rate seems to be quite high and is documented to run about 30 updates per second on iPhones.
The phone mount is a RAM B-166U twist lock with metal body parts and is keeping the phone firmly in place. I plan on tethering it to the mirror as an extra safety step when in use.
The other devices in the photo are a BlackVue 900S Dual and an Escort Redline 360C mounted with a BlendMount that I've had for a while. I'll take down the Escort when racing and move the phone mount up a bit higher.
I'll post some video from Harry's Lap Timer after an upcoming autocross and a track event in about two weeks.
I had a very similar setup in a prior 911 4S but had sold those parts after I sold that car. The new mount should be steadier and the new ODB device is easier to work with thanks to its Bluetooth interface. Here's a video from that. The Picture in Picture from the back seat is an edit I did adding a second camera view to the Harry's video.

I tried going that route - Harrys, OBD dongle, 10Hz GPS receiver... it missed more than it recorded. I (and multiple friends who I'd convinced at the time to go the same route) also had issues with it randomly choosing a "finish line" that was 200yards before the "start line" on closed circuits... made for interesting arguments about laptimes when n00b novice group friends started reporting lap times that were quicker than MY laptimes... took a while to figure THAT one out! Wound up selling it all and buying an AiM Solo DL, and just did the overlay for any video after the fact with RaceRender.

I think you're the first person I've seen who has had solid success with that setup.

Thanks for the advice on the AiM Solo DL and RaceRender. If I end up unhappy with the results I get with this setup I'll certainly consider switching to that. I'll report back after the next autocross.

@dnimi123 for now, yes because it seems like it may not actually do much according to the threads I've read here.
@Shawn Hong I agree, but I still like it better than stock. An engine cover is in the works.

OP could maybe re-route some wire harness and polish the manifold. Tho from the available angle in the car... IMO not much of a way to make it look interesting.

There's a guy over in the standard 718 forum that's working on designing a cover to dress it up.
