I did the same with the visors. I love that the airbag stickers aren’t there anymore, but I don’t think a single person has noticed they’re gone except for me 😂 Maybe they did notice and didn’t say anything. They’re very expensive, but to me it was worth it.

I 100% agree it's for me and not anyone else as other folks don't seem bothered by it, but it bothered me enough to do it for both my GT4 and SRS. Yes, it's more expensive to do it after, but knowing it never had the stickers is priceless

Installed the black aluminum trim and strut bar (which comes from the GT4RS) onto my GT4. The silver aluminum was completely out of place as nothing else in my interior had the silver aluminum. I should probably get the RS water and oil covers (they were out of stock when I ordered these two parts), but those don't bother me as much despite the chrome rings. pretty easy install as long as you're comfortable pulling plastic trim pieces.

I did an autocross at Pocono raceway 10 days ago in shorts, and my left knee is still healing! Let me explain...

When I do AutoX or track days, I brace my left knee against the door panel. In the 718, with my 18-way seats, that puts my knee against the top corner of the speaker grill. Track days (almost) always mandate long pants, so I'm fine at the track. But doing 7 autocross runs in shorts is totally different. By the end of the runs, my knee looked like someone had rubbed a cheese grater across it. In the next day, that spot scabbed over, and left a half-dollar sized scab where it contacted the speaker grill.

Possible solutions: more AutoX to develop a callus? Swap in bucket seats? Nope, I'm taking the easy way out: volleyball knee pads! I purchased four different sets from Amazon for comparison test. These
Mizuno T10 Plus Mizuno T10 Plus
are the best ones, and they are only $20. Second place is the
Armour 2.0 Armour 2.0
for $30. Third place is the
Nike Streak Nike Streak
for $30. Last place is the
Nike Essentials Nike Essentials
for $26. Weather-permitting, I'll put the Mizuno knee pads to work in 1.5 weeks at the last AutoX of the season at Pocono raceway.

For those with sensitive stomachs, avert your eyes:

I've done the same thing. I have a kneebrace for AX/HPDE to prevent the cheesegrater effect. Still get a little bit of a bruise/mark from the constant pressure point but not a scab-worthy injury like without.

@slilley Do you use the "lock your seat belt" trick? After clicking, if you pull the seat belt all the way out, and then let it retract, it will be locked into that position until you disconnect it from the latch. It will retract more, but will not loosen. Pull it tightly against you, to help hold you in place. Helps a lot, but buckets are even better.

It was this knee scraping in my 991 that made me realize I was getting fast enough that I needed to give higher priority to my overall safety on track. FWIW, I also used the volleyball knee pads for a while. But it all prompted me to get more serious and buy a 981 GT4 with the carbon buckets and put in a roll bar and harnesses. The next track season I believe they saved my life (or at least from serious injury). Be careful out there!

I've always locked myself in place by sliding the seat all the way back, and then yanking the seatbelt (pulling it fast enough that the mechanism locks, preventing the belt from going any farther), clicking the seatbelt latch into place, and then sliding the seat forward. It usually takes a couple tries to get right. I'll give your trick a try next time, because I should be able to program one of my seat positions back far enough that I get the right amount of belt tension holding me in place when I slide the seat up to my normal spot (actually, I move it up another inch forward for track and especially autocross).

I'm always pinned into the seat using my technique above, but nothing is as good as a racing seat with a 4-point harness.

FYI, 3 point belts do very little to hold you in place, autox or track. They’ll hold you in the event of a head on car on car, but that’s about it.
Wear knee pads for autox. Get 6pts for the track.

You learn this "trick" after having kids. It's the only way to lock in a shoulder belt latched car seat.

Bought a garage mate to take some of the track day wear and tear off the GT4. Cheaper to insure, maintain, modify, and repair, and I won't feel bad putting track focused mods on that will compromise its street manners.

2018 Grand Sport M7 w/Z07 package, bolt ons, and AP racing brakes all around.

The GT4 will still be my autocross, street, and occasional track machine, but leaving it as is. (Just so damn good)

Nice! Looking forward to an unbiased comparison in the coming weeks/months!

Haven't had it on track yet but from a street driving perspective, here's some of my initial pros/cons compared to the GT4:

Pros:
● Abundant low end torque and the lower 1-3 gear ratios makes ripping around town at 3 to 7/10ths really fun.
●Targa top is a great feature.
●Competition seats are more comfortable than the 18 ways in the GT4, and are heated and cooled.
●No drone from the exhaust (stock valved catback with headers with high flow cats vs my kline inconel catback and stock headers on the GT4)
●Heads up display is really a great feature
●Really eats up the miles on road, and definitely seems more daily or long trip friendly than the Porsche.

Cons:
●Build quality is not on the same planet. Materials feel cheap, creaks and rattles over bumps.
●More dated infotainment and the Bose stereo is much worse than the Bose in the GT4
●Stock mag ride is either too soft and floaty on some bumps or top harsh and crashes over other bumps. Makes the stock shocks with DSC on the GT4 feel very well sorted in comparison.
●Steering is quick in sport and track modes, but lacks the feel the porsche provides.
●Visibility isn't terrible, but simultaneously makes you feel like you're sitting to low and too high in the car at the same time.

I'm sure some of my impressions will change as I get some track time and the car sorted to my liking. Many gripes aren't a big deal since I bought this more for tracking than for street stuff and road trips.
