The last time I let anybody drive my car

Kids sure learn a lot when you start them on a manual. They naturally become better drivers. Not to belittle the current generation of digital nannies with all the bells and whistles, but they just can't learn what a manual can teach them.

I guess not all my friends are giant *********, because I’ve had little problems.
My first Porsche I’ve ever driven was lent to me from a friend.
In fact, I plan to pay it forward.
I’ve already asked two friends if they would like to drive it and both have so far declined. I find that very respectful.
Perhaps I keep good company!

I taught my daughter and son to drive on a manual transmission and they insisted their first car being a manual. When my daughter went to college I told her not to let anybody on campus drive her car. Her response was a relief on my part : She told me, don't worry, none of her friends know how to drive a stick. Boy that was a blessing !
My dad enjoys driving my MT sports cars from time to time. Rest of the family either not driven MT since the day passed the test, or hasn't learnt to drive MT. Sometimes a little inconvenient if the car needs moving in the family garage if me & my dad not around.

Two people can drive my cars:
1. My son who is now 25 and PCA instructor along with myself. He is also very skilled driving a Go-Kart.
2. My best friend who knows how to wheel a car and a Go-Kart. Plus, this is his garage, and I have free rein to drive whatever I want when I visit. I think I get the better end of the deal in this situation. We are of course very respectful of each others property, but realize a great friendship and car camaraderie are far more important than any particular vehicle.

Mistake was mine. Letting a Ferraritsi friend not familiar with the 911 oversteer drive it at 9/10. He panicked in an S curve, let out the throttle, and totaled the car, even though I, as a passenger, was persuading him to not let out.
A hard lesson well learned.

It’s very true! Also a great anti-theft device

It’s easier to tell people “No way in hell are you driving this car” if you do it in a half-joking, self-effacing way.
e.g. “Geez, I have enough anxiety when I’m driving this car. I’d probably have an aneurism worrying about someone else driving it.”

There is no recourse. A scumbag is a scumbag and will give you all kinds of reasons other than his/her fault. That is the reality every time you take your car to the track. It is either you or the other party that gets into a mishap and it takes 2 to tango.
