Yes, could be. My build always showed the estimate for entry and exit at Jacksonville being the same day. I'm interested to learn more about how this works from a logistics standpoint, but I was assuming the cars do not sit around once cleared through PDI. I guess as long as the number of cars leaving in any period matches the number arriving, everything is good.

My dealer still doesn't really know and they are getting a little peeved that PCNA isnt coming clean. My SA suggested that my car needed a software update within the PDI and the car wasn’t really due to clear J-ville till 3/19 - so, I think this emerged about the time they had the car in the port. I have been bugging them to declare a date for release due to some personal travel deadlines and PCNA had gone crickets about 10 days ago (calls and emails not returned). COVID and Cars - We sit around the internet talking about cars we don’t have

I definitely understand your frustration.

Information is definitely dripping out slowly.

I traded my 991.1 in July 2020 to secure the allocation of the Spyder since I can do without the 991. Car is supposed to arrive at dealer next week. Now it looks like it will be a 2 month delay. They are expecting mid-May fix last I heard.

If I held on to the 991.1, I will get more driving and probably more for trade-in the way the used car market is going.

In the big scheme of things, I am thankful I still have my health and can enjoy a toy car.

YMMV

"The problem is announced while driving due to knocking noises". I think most who own these cars have commented on knocking noise. Mine has it.

Quite a few that have taken delivery even over a year ago complained of loud knocking noises but people put if off as loud fuel injectors and nature of the 6 cyl?

I’ve never heard a “knock”. Accessory induction, and injector...sure lots of that.

The loud knocking noise that refers to is the broken connecting rod pushing through the side of the block followed by the car not running. It's not a constant annoying thing like the fuel injectors. It's a one-time, catastrophic annoying thing.

Mine has a few other "mystery noises" as well. Especially when its cold and coasting to a stop. Sounds like the timing chain clanging against metal but goes away when the engine warms up.

I wouldn't put money on that and Porsche - from what I know - has said nothing of the sort.. It's possible that many failure modes could happen, including among other things the cap bolts coming loose or backing off, or stretching of the bolt prior to breakage. The knocking could be an indication that something is close to or about to fail, as well as that the failure has occurred.

I thought you made a good point at first, but I'm not so sure as I think more about it. That is, if the knocking stems from loose bolts associated with connecting rods, the knocking would occur at between one and six times the engine speed times the number of bolts per cylinder, depending on the number of failed (or failing) bolts. Even if only one bolt failed resulting in knocking, it would occur at 1000 times per second at idle, a noise I doubt would be recognizable as a knock to the human ear in real time. It would probably be described as audibly louder engine noise, but not a knock.

Finally moving in the right direction!
You might remember I am the dolt that paid for my car before the PDI was completed so that I am out $132K by the time tag, taxes, warranty, ppf/ceramic are done and NO CAR . I complained to my SA today that I would be earning about $250/wk on that money if it were still invested. Although my SA still hasn't not been told by Porsche the cause for the stop sale, he is starting to believe the con rods issue. He said that they can't give my money back without buying the car back-the title & plate are in my name already. Since I still want the car, my dealership has decided to pay me $250/wk for 4 weeks; they think that Porsche will have decided on a remediation plan by then. (My SA thinks everyone might get $1000/month loss of use payment +/- extended warranty.)

Riiiggght...with no risk....10% yield in this market...with no risk....

That said, they should be compensating you the equivalent of a car payment on your car, which would be $1,500-$2k per month under typical terms.
