After a member’s witty reply on another thread, I said to my self, why not just get rid of the ceramic matrix that’s in there to free up the exhaust a little?

Three hour project for both side.

I haven’t met another 718 GT4/S/Sypder owner in the area with OAPs so I can’t give you a first person impression on sound note, but I’d bet it’s close to the other GPF delete OAPs.

Cost me $9.99 because I drank a handle of beers 🍻

Your mileage may vary: For OFF-ROAD USE ONLY, blah blah blah.

That's fantastic. What was your jack point point for the bottle?

I’ve disabled the PSE using the set-screw mod, assuming I’ve done it correctly, valves are open,

Was there any portion that adhered to the inside of the OAP? If so, what did it take to remove it?

I was wondering if the canister could be cut and re-welded, but this is even easier!
There was a little residue from the adhesive used to glue the fiberglass to the inside of the canister, but I was able to get most of it off without much effort. If I really wanted to, I could have spray some 3M adhesive remover and scrub it clean.

Once the 6 T25 screws holding on the center portion of the rear diffuser is removed, there’s a decent spot to Jack up the rear end. Sorry I don’t have any photos.

I’m assuming no CELs? Supposedly the factory included this in US cars to maintain the same backpressure so they wouldn’t have to remap the engine. Not sure if that is BS or not.

I eliminated the center muffler on my 991 and did have rough idle so I was inclined to believe it.

No CELs to report, I’m sure there’s some truth to your statement though... that said, no one seems to be having any issues with their aftermarket OAPs so I’m going to assume I’ll experience the same.

The factory calibration seems to have a pretty wide range of adaptations, with Dundon and JCR running Long-Tube Race Header setups on the factory tune without reported issues.

I’m also wondering if Porsche didn’t keep the GPF on the North American cars just so consumers in the EU wouldn’t complain that the NA cars sounds “better.”

You gotta be kidding. I was thinking about doing that during the winter while my gt4 is stored in my garage. I tought about that all day today. I almost made a thread about it to ask fellow rennlisters if someone had tried it but I was scared that I would get ridiculed for being cheap and not buying proper OAPs.

Congratulations for your work.

did it take 3 hours total including uninstalling, gutting and reinstalling?

BTW my vote for the name is “redneck OAP” no offense to anyone.

9,99 for the beers 🍻 lol

I’m just going to have to call it the Dummy GPF Delete if you two insist, since the GPF is sorta just a dummy and the user is a real dummy.

Yep, start to finish took about 3 hours. I did spend time after it was fired up and out of the garage to tidy up and vacuum up the space as the car warmed up, so maybe 3:30 total time.

Since there’s at least 2 people vaguely interested, I updated the 1st post with some tools required and basic instructions.

Hope it helps at least one person!
