The tropical storm in the gulf right now. Houston got inundated with rain about 48 hours after I purchased my Spyder. By Thursday it will be gone!

Did you wrap the windshield surround?

Yes. The white hoop bothers me. I did the same on my 981S. I really like the look with it blacked out.

I see that now, looks great too... hmmmmm!

Do you see much body colour when it is wrapped? Any close ups available?

It’s opaque. I had the installer use a mat finish Wrap that matched the color of the side scoops and the bottom of the mirrors. It evidently makes white cars look chalk though! 😊

It looks great, nice contrast to the lighter body colour,

I was thinking more along the lines, was it tough for the installer to ensure that the underlying body colour was completely covered by film. I looked at my car and they would have to trim bulk film to fit, seems like a lot of cutting on the car to get the film tight to the windshield, roof and side window seals.

Oh, I see. You are insightful! Yes, the installer said that he would have to waste a large piece of wrap if I insisted that it be all one piece. He said I could save a lot of money (couple hundred savings) if I could live with a center seam. I went with two pieces and have a center seam that no one would see unless I pointed it out. He also said that completely covering all the white was a PITA, but he did a good job. He also did my 981S about 6 years ago, and I never had any white edges show through on that one. So I guess the answer is that it’s not an easy job, but it’s doable by an experienced, patient installer. He only charged me $100 for the black trim, but maybe that was because I had him put Xpel on the whole rest of the car other than the rear bumper and trunk lid. If I only had the windshield surround done, I’m guessing it would have cost me a lot more than $100.

p.s.
Your car sure looks white in your avatar! Are you sure it’s chalk?

We were originally supposed to do European Delivery, but Covid messed that up. But I can't imagine a better day than we had at PECATL. Truly a memorable experience that anyone buying a new Porsche should try to do.

Amen to that. I would do it again with my incoming GT4 but can't because of complications due to Covid.

God bless,

Picked it up today, it was center stage on the showroom floor, despite having a GT3 and Taycan Turbo in for delivery too.
The car is a stunner in person.
I was hoping for Michelin's, but I'm sure the Dunlop's will be great.
