I wonder how these radiators are packaged and shipped to the assembly plant. The stripes look as though they could be the result of vibration from the separation material. Just a thought. My Spyder came down the assembly line around the same time as Westcoast, but without the radiator stripes, so it has to be a random thing, crazy.

I don’t think that necessarily means that it’s a foreign substance. It could simply be the way the damaged paint looks when wet. A lot of surfaces will look darker wet and then lighten up when dry.

I was told that the radiator is actually anodized not painted and therefore cannot be repaired by paint. My sa still has no answers

Some interesting discussion concerning the potential causes of anodized aluminum oxidization.

No, but I'm swinging by the dealer tomorrow to talk with the service manager. I'll ask him if he has a bulletin number. Picking up my GT4 car cover as well!

If it's the latter, I wonder if CLR or something similar would clean it up.
That's what I'm curious about, try a low pH cleaner to remover mineral deposits. CLR is one or even vinegar.

Citrus cleaner is not best for that, typically higher pH better for degreasing.

So as for some arrival pictures I thought I would keep them in the Chalk thread for simplicity, here is a direct link:

I took your pic and emailed my sales rep. As heads up for when my car arrives. Will see what he says.

Interesting, I would like to confirm the idea that it is anodized because it certainly doesn't look that way to me, as for painting, you can paint anodized aluminum I have done it many times, including the radiator on my previous GTS.

I figured while I had the bumper off it was a good opportunity to get a clear picture of it...

Our radiators appear to be constructed entirely of aluminum, I would think that they are dipped in an anodizing solution, or maybe they are dipped in a alodine solution for corrosion protection. There doesn't seem to be much available online on the coatings used. I think painting the fins would make them less efficient at their job, heat transfer.
Before you paint, make sure Porsche approves.

I haven't had the rad out of the Spyder (yet ) but the 991 Turbo radiator used in the 981 GT4/Spyder had plastic tanks IIRC, pretty sure the GTS center radiator did too.

PCC CEO posted this on Instagram. Maybe didn't see the stripes.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency with the stripe patterns. Anyone have a connection with a good radiator shop or manufracter, bet they could answer the question of what is causing the stripes.
