It didn't cost me anywhere near that. It was $2160 for the seats in leather and all of the deletion of "race-tex" (the new alcantara name) from everything including the roof liner and the steering wheel/shifter was $0 on my build. I did decide to add on a bunch of other optional leather bits (like the dash and doors with deviated stitching, steering column, sun visors, crests on the headrests and console lid) and also deviated seat centers and didn't crack $8K, all in.
For clarification prices I quoted are for Gt4 and Spyder.
Was there a substantial change in the interior leather options and pricing on 2021s?
I still wouldn’t have spent $8k on extended interior leather. The classic interior is enough leather. If alcantera delete was a no cost option, like the steering wheel, then definitely yes. That’s me.
Just curious to know, who else would have dropped ~$8k to remove all the alcantera?

FWIW - I didn't drop $8K to delete alcantera - that would have been free on my config. I dropped $8K to add leather with deviated stitching to the dash, doors, sun visors, & steering column as well as to add the Porsche Crest embossing to the console lid and head rests. I know that may sound like a lot but my feeling was this: I had had 2017 718CS - the 2021 718CGTS is physically identical inside other than the addition of the chrono. The exterior is nearly identical (other than a different grill and exhaust setup). So I was getting a car that was very similar to what I had. From past experience, I know that if I replace a car with something too similar to my last one, I don't enjoy it as much. So in this instance, I thought about how I could differentiate the 2 cars so that I wouldn't have that risk. Different engine and engine sound, different color, but the key to me was the interior - Unless you sit at a desk with a window that looks out to your car, you spend 90% of your time sitting IN the car so by changing out all the leather, expanding it to different surfaces, deviated stitching (chalk), deviated seat inserts (chalk), and replacing all the default interior trim with body color trim (Gentian Blue), nearly everything I saw and touched would look and feel different and that would create the differentiation that I was looking for.
For those thinking about aftermarket wheels here are some pics of the OZ Leggera 20's in Gloss Black. I use these for the track, not sure I would pick them as an 'upgrade' over the OEM for daily use but for winters or track duty they fit the bill just great. About same weight as OEM and cheapest option with no spacers required. Biggest thing I noticed about these is they really make the calipers pop compared to the platinum wheels, not sure if the OEM satin black options have the same effect, obvious trade off is the wheel design is harder to see. Also, I would say concavity is about on par with OEM, fronts are flat and rears are slightly concaved.

right away I knew this was Colorado!! Springs in fact! I miss it!
Agreed! I’ll get back there at some point. In the meantime I kept my cell number that starts with 719 as a reminder of where I came from! 😁. Beautiful Spyder!
