Most people that complain that it is useless don't understand how it works, or don't care, it effectively increases the gain of the cellphones antenna as intended.

As for removing it to gain more storage volume, IMHO hardly worth the expense or effort. I have yet to see a post here on Rennlist about somebody who has done this.

I've done it on my RHD 2020 GT4. The bottom phone cradle panel is just clipped in, there is an antenna and 4 pin block connected that can be unclipped and tucked away, then the original, much flatter bottom rubber section just clips in. You have to remove the surround trim on the centre console first. It's a 10 min job and creates a lot more depth to the compartment.

If you've got something to grip the base you might be able to just lift it up but not sure how fiddly it would be, and whether there's enough slack on the two cables though.
