718 GT4RS

lively discussion on this subject in the 992 GT3 forum
you may call it BS while someone else calls it supply & demand, etc
agree...find another dealer
I was just trying trying to point out viable alternatives

One minute you are quoting MSRP and the next you’re saying dealer quoted you market value. 2 different animals as you later admit. BTW, ADM or market is not considered a viable alternative unless you have stoopid money or .......

That would be nutty to pay that much for a GT4 RS in my opinion. Lots of alternatives at the $250k level with flappy paddle only. McLaren 600LT comes to mind (I drove one of those and was mightily impressed). If you want NA, not sure why you wouldn't take 992 GT3 instead (I don't expect ADM) with lots of cash in your pocket or pair with a Cayman GTS 4.0L for similar money.

Just put my name on the list for a GT4RS at my dealership; in the mid-20s right now, but apparently that list moves around a lot so we'll see
I was very last on the list at hat dealership for a GT3 and was able to get one so anything is possible!

i don't think porsche will be as limited in production these next generations. they've oversaturated the market massively with artificial short term demand. already 718 GT4's can be had anywhere in america at MSRP, probably a $1,000-$2,000 off for loyal customers. there were 9,500 991.2 GT3's built. that's by no means limited production. 4,880 RS's.... by comparison, ferrari produced 2,000 bog standard California's a year which you can walk into any dealership in America and buy off the lot. Porsche let the dealers play games for a few years and pissed off a lot of customers. i think that game is over, especially in a depressed market. they'll produce as many cars as people are willing to buy.

I haven't read everything in this thread but the GT4RS will get a N/A engine and it will be the GT3 engine as it shares some major engine internals from the 991.2 and 992 GT3 engine.
I have some SOP (start of production) dates (for GT3/GT3RS/GT4RS) but because of Covid I doubt they will still valid and I don't know if the qty. of engines is still accurate. The plan was to produce up 7.000 engines until the end of 2023.
And I think we have to switch this thread to the 982 forum

This was my understanding as well, but this is not to say that they couldn't engineer some upgrades for the 9A2 Evo 4.0l based on the internals of the GT3 engine that provide the increased RPM and power output...
#539
But IMHO that doesn't make it a GT3 engine, just an enhanced one.
#540
yeah it's definitely NOT a GT3 engine. it's the same GT4 Evo engine, modified. they've said countless times it's an extremely versatile "platform" engine that can be rolled out across many models.
