Dealer Allocation Tracker
#5746
I gave up on an allocation a few weeks back, was next at msrp at one dealer and unknown position at another at msrp. Going on 18-20mo wait. Local dealer had a CPO GT4 and a CPO 992 C2S. Experienced both and the 992 was just perfect for me. Fast forward a week after that, found my perfect spec, never title 2.9k mile, Porsche executive driven 22' 992 C2S. CPO until July 2028. Good luck to those who are still waiting it out!

I got the email from my SA a few days ago that my GT4 has been built and is ready for transport! And I already have my out the door price locked with my dealership in Southern CA.
But just for the fun of it I called a dealer in Northern CA today to see what the ADM was on a GT4 that they have arriving next week. No carbon buckets, no PCCB and they wanted $30k over!

2023 718 Allocations
I am trying to get some reliable information regarding 2023 locations for the 718, specifically the Boxster GTS 4.0 model. My Ohio dealer has not received any allocations since May of last year, and is telling me that allocations for all 718's have dried up, and that his rep has told him no allocations will be issued until the end of June. Additionally, he now tells me that all Base and S production will end completely at the end of June, and that they "hope" they will still build GTS's and Spyder's.
What is going on? I find it hard to believe that there are no allocations available anywhere until the end of June. Even given supply chain and other production issues, I assume Porsche still wants to sell the 718. Have they stopped production of all 718's? Is this the end of the road for the ICE 718? I love the 718 Boxster, and have owned four of them, but I have no desire to own the all electric model coming up. I was hoping top get one more 718 GTS before the end of the ICE era.
Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
Bill

I moved your thread over to the 718 4.0L sub forum dealer allocation thread.
You’ll get good poop over here.
Lots of speculation, but numerous dealer contacts say GT4/Spyder end this June.
GTS is a question mark.
Lower trims continue for the last year.
There is a broker on here who can help, if you are interested in paying a premium.
Good luck!

I have a Cali store with a GT4RS allocation. Delivery ETA 6/30, no PTS, no PCCB. 65k over MSRP.

Yes, I got the bucket seats. My allocation was from Oct and the original customer backed out so even though I got the allocation in Jan after the stop on those options the PCCBs and carbon buckets were grandfathered in.
Considering the possibility of the end of the GT4 run and if this ends up the last MY and half the builds are missing very desirable options I am extremely stoked to have snagged this.
I wanted to go PTS acid green or Python Green but since the allocation wasn't originally spec'd with either a PTS or Pyth Green option I wasn't able to add it since the stop order already was in.

Some other thoughts/speculations:
1. China is now Porsche's biggest market by volume of vehicles.
2. The 911 is the flagship sports car, and provides more profit per unit built than the mainstream 718 models.
3. Porsche can sell a lot more 911s than 718s.
4. They don't want to kill the "sacred cow" ICE 911 for at least a little while, mainly because, well... it's the 911.
5. They want to maximize per unit profit on any remaining 718 builds, which means they focus on the GT4 RS and the Spyder RS for MY 2024.
6. Porsche seems to believe in Milton Friedman's and the Univ. of Chicago's School of Economics theories with respect to focus only on shareholder value.
7. Porsche does not have to care about sports car buyers or their loyalty to the brand because we are really just a rounding error. And, they can still claim to build the 911.
Probably our future "satisfaction" will have to be watching the fragile US electric grid handle the electric car charging lack of sufficient infrastructure to meet most manufacturers' desire to go all-electric. Good luck to you guys! I'm gonna croak soon and leave you with this mess. BTW, I'm not against the idea of EVs, or at least something better for the planet than fossil fuels, though personally EVs do nothing for me, but the electricity production has to be a lot cleaner, and the grid infrastructure will need a long time and huge investment to meet EV needs. Mercedes says "all-electric" by 2030. Really?
