Dealer Allocation Tracker
#1637
My dealer is in a high demand area and gets a lot of allocations so I will get the next one that allows a PTS Spider build - I have made the deposit, build spec, etc so it is just a waiting game now. And it may be a 2022 model, which is fine by me...more time to drive my 7MT Targa GTS.

From a logical perspective, do you really think they would go thru all the trouble to add PDK as an option and then 3 mths in say, sorry, we are done. We are in-between allocation windows, that is all folks. The rumor mills here are ridiculous.
Oh, and as a back-up car is concerned... That's easy. C8 Z06

I don't like the c8, It looks great from a really long way away but up close it's very chevy like. Never liked vette interiors going back to uh, at least the C2 either. Plus no manual, and unless they do some mechanical gymnastics there never will be. Definitely good value performance-wise there, like all vettes, but you sacrifice too much on the fit and finish of it imo and they also end up being a dime a dozen... I know way too many people that went down that chevy route. I considered a few other auto cars: the NSX (being into hondas when I was 20ish and my mom drives acuras now I find it hard to un-see the base acura trim and styling on the interior. Also worried it might be too boring as a drivers car), a MP4-12C (terrified of the reliability), F430 (getting old, I already have an old keeper sports car), 991.1 GT3 (probably the most realistic backup of the automatics).
As for manuals: 981's I still look at, but they're covid taxed like crazy. Only about 10-15g less than my build is on a 718 GT4 and they're not even highly optioned out for that price. It seems retarded to buy one of those that is almost the MSRP of a 718 when its off warranty, 5-6 years old, not CPO, etc. A 991.1 or 991.2 C2S is also an option, but the pickings are few and far between for manuals on those. 992 S manual... not bad as easy enough to special order one the way I want. I could fit the family in it, but I don't love it (The digital dash and touch screen everything is close to a deal breaker. The front bumper is ugly, although the 3g upgraded bumper solves that. It's a GT car not a sports car also so it'll be less a 'i'm going for a drive car' and more, 'we'll take that to go shopping car').

I don't know where you are getting the "3-months" from. RL'rs are reporting June/July allocations so we already have a complete 2021 MY cycle. Yes, pressroom announcement was in early Sept -- but that was for some technical specs. PDK cars were already rolling off the line by then
There were 800'ish Gen 1 and 2 Spyders sent to NA. We'll be at that number when Zuff heads to summer break.
I'm not saying the line is coming to an end per se -- but just like previous gens folks will be still waiting for allocations when it closes. From an allocation perspective we're closing out the 2nd model year, will there be a third -- perhaps since we don't see a 718 replacement easily on the horizon. But that still means we're ~70% through the models production life.
Spyders share the same facility (Zuffenhausen) as all 718, 911, and Taycan so there are scheduling limits even if it continues -- probably some of that is what we're seeing here, 25th Anniversaries have taken over the line.

Not an allocation, but surprised this Python Green GT4 (6-speed) has not sold. It is sitting on the showroom floor Porsche of Destin. List $113,900

Mary Alice is the Sales Manager ((850) 650-0884) and she was pressing hard to make a deal on it. I'm a PDK guy so not for me.

Just for reference, from a model year timeline perspective, I got my 2020 GT4 build allocation in late June 2020. My allocation locked June 25 IIRC. My GT4 was built the very last week of July 2020 right before the plant went on August holiday. They also built some additional 2020 model year GT4s in September 2020.

I can also confirm that I was offed a new 2021 model year GT4 allocation by a second local dealer in late July 2020. So that is probably the approximate model year allocation cutoff.
