That is a good question. I made the poll after reading that the average Porsche owner is 40 and above, making over $100,000 and that 85% were males. That was back in 2021. I have also read some things that the average 911 owner had average income above $300k and the average Boxster owner had average income over $240k. Now average does not mean the middle or median owner. Some guys like Jay Leno would definitely bring the average up.

Maybe it would be interesting to hear what the average net worth of Porsche owners (on this forum) are today? I know around 25 years ago I bought a used Porsche 911 and later a used Porsche 968 while not having much money.

location REALLY matters to especially these days. 1 mil net worth in CA is not the same as 1 mil net worth in Texas. Then have to keep in mind sales tax percentages (if your state even has sales tax) and then some states have tax credit on trade in which makes getting into another car easier.

as someone who lives in California, things are just more expensive out here, and mostly due to taxes. I also happen to live in one of the highest tax counties in NorCal at a whopping 10.25% sales tax. Which we do not get a credit on. It’s to the point I HAVE to consider that lost money if I want to buy anything with plans to resell it. So if I see that my GTS is 116k? I just automatically assume my cost is 128k before any addons. And then let’s not forget Californias income tax as well. While I make enough to be able to afford a house and this car, had I made this paycheck in any other state (other than maybe New York) I’d probably be in a GT3 instead.

I think there are too many variables when it comes to net worth. Because I can only afford this car because my wife and I don’t want children, we want Porsches. Had we gone the crotch gremlin route at best I’d be in a Macan.

You are right. There are a lot of different variables. 10.25% sales tax? Wow that sounds like a lot. Even 6% seems like a lot on such a large purchase. I think when people are surveyed its just to give a ball park of information. A survey or a poll will not cover every variable and some people may not be 100% accurate even when a poll is anonymous. It might be interesting to see how a net worth poll would go though. Like many people my net worth has gone up and down over the years.

it’s a lot lol. Gas is in the high 5$ per gallon range too. 6$ in some cities. Oh and reg fees are based off of roughly 1% of your cars sale price. Luckily that does mean the price you pay after down payments and whatnot. But paying 1200$ for reg for my GT4 was painful.

I just got 94 gas at Costco today for $3.699 a gallon. I can not imagine paying $6 a gallon. That is insane. Some cars have gas guzzler taxes as well.

lol oh yeah keep in mind our highest octane is 91. If I wanted 94 I’m paying closer to 9$ a gallon at a racetrack.

Here in Florida, Sam's Club 93 octane is $3.49 if you use the Sam's card. $3.54 if you use another credit card.
All 3 of my Porsches love the 93 octane. And my modified 991.2 911 Turbo with 780 Hp is one of them.

Wow thats lower than Costco near me yesterday for 93. Remember when it was $2 a few years ago? Sadly gas prices affect almost everything else.

Took me long enough to get my first P car (37 years old). But I love that my sons can do the drives/cars and coffee with me while they're young. Nothing beats having one of them shotgun!

I think that is awesome! I lost my dad a couple years ago and it hit me hard. Some of my best memories were Sunday mornings playing softball with my dad as a young kid. I bet your sons do not realize it now but years from now they will treasure these memories.

Sorry to hear that, glad for the memories though. I hope they'll look back on all this and smile!
