Just entered Porsche community with purchase of 2017 718 base model. Got it from a third tier dealer( you know the ones in a strip mall selling cars they get at auction, but can't support), but please dont judge... this was a financial stretch...
Anyways... having an issue where the multifunction display language reverts back to French everytime i start the car.
I change it to English, and its fine for that driving session, but after i turn off ignition and restart the car, its back to French again. The PCM does not have this issue. It has its own language setting and remembers the chosen settings.
i have not yet purchased a scan/diagnostic tool, but plan to. Is this something that could be corrected via one of the more reasonably priced units, or will i need to take to dealer with the 'big boy' tools.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

do you have memory settings on the driver's door for the 2 seating positions? sounds like the key is programmed to use french as the default language. if so you will have to set things the way you want and then re-program the key using the buttons on the door.

Hit “Set” and then the “Key” button after you’ve adjusted all desired settings. Then do it with the other key.
