Need to Source OEM Brakes
Hello from India!
Its been a while since I last posted. I have been driving the Cayman 718 (2019 year of manufactung; base model) for the last 2 years now and have clocked just over 12,000 KM (not miles)
I just came back from my regular service and the service technician told me that I would need brake pad replacement (both front and back) in the next 500-1000km.
The service fellow told me the replacement price would be approximately USD 1350 for replacement for all brake pads with sensors and labour.
Is this a normal price to pay?
Does anyone know where I can find out the exact OEM model and manufacturer? I don't mind purchasing the parts from USA/EUROPE and then getting it installed here.
If anyone can help me with sourcing the parts that would be super helpful!
Any help is greatly apprecited.
Thanks!!

No idea of price in your part of the world but I’d definitely be questioning the need to replace pads after 7k road miles. Especially on the rear. Is the car throwing up brake warning lights? That’s what the brake wear sensors are for. If you haven’t tracked the car I suggest you get a second opinion

Suncoast has those sensors listed as a Pair for $80. And the listing says only need to replace them if the light had come on in the car, so if you happened to get to the pads before the wear sensor was triggered the old ones are still re useable. So that's better
"Set of factory replacement brake pad sensors. One required per caliper. If your dash warning light has been activated, your sensors should be inspected and replacement may be necessary.Order the front set or rear set, and select the brake system. Fits 2017-2021 718 Boxter and Cayman models (including base, S, T, GTS, and GTS 4.0 models)."

$40 each....
and no one says you have to run sensors. you can just tie the ends together and go on about your merry way if you want to. that's what i do with my track toy since i'm inspecting the brakes several times throughout a day.

Guys,
I appreciate all the help you have given! Sorry for the late reply; my wife went into labour the day I posted this message. I have been blessed with a baby daughter!
No the car has never been tracked. I do drive hard though, like any Porsche should be!
I guess I will look into purchasing parts from Suncoast and then getting them installed here.
Again, thanks for all your help!

Even if you 'drive hard' on the street, I'm pretty sure your pads are OK at 12k km. I fit that description and my pads still were at 9 - 10 mm after about 25 k km (ie, most of their useful life still remaining.) Track driving is much harder on the brakes than even the most spirited road driving. Once I started tracking, it took about 6 track days (maybe 1200 km) to use up the remaining 75% of life. At a minimum, check locally for trusted shops and get a second opinion. Another option is to measure the pads yourself - simple with a basic tool like this:
And more importantly, congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

Unless you are worried about fade from aggressive repeated stops, I'd think you are fine just waiting until the car tells you they need replacing. I agree with the others that replacement at that mileage with your reported usage sounds absurdly low. I don't know your experience with this mechanic and their reputation, but I would have a hard time trusting their honesty; except of course you know and trust them.
