Default Low Spec GTS or Loaded S?

I am looking at two possible options for a 2019 Cayman. Asking price for both cars is about the same at $70K. First is a CS with MSRP of about $88K with PDK, SC, 14 way power seats and Premium Plus. Second option is a lightly optioned GTS with MSRP of about $87K with 6-spd, manual seats, Bose/Carplay and not much else. Car is for fun, and probably will not see the track any time soon. Neither vehicle is being sold as CPO as each has about 3 years left on original warranty. GTS has 1K miles, S has 4.5K. Thought on which would be the most fun as a pleasure vehicle?

If you're not tracking I would think the S would be the better option. You won't feel any power difference nor any handling tbh. Main variable here is do you want a manual vs. pdk?

Does the GTS have 2 way “Sport Seats” or “Sport Seats Plus”? It’s probably Sport Seats Plus. The Sport Seats Plus are deeper, more supportive, and arguably more comfortable too than regular Sport Seats. Personally, I’d rather have 2-way Sport Seats Plus (6 way really when you include the manual adjustments) than the 14-way regular Sport Seats because the Sport Seats Plus are more supportive.

GTS advantages: engagement of a manual transmission, LSD and torque vectoring, more supportive seats, sport PASM suspension (lower, stiffer, sharper)
S advantages: PDK performance and ease, heated/cooled seats, seat position memory, inflatable seat bladders for side hug and lumbar, auto dimming mirrors and rain sensor, key in pocket unlock and start, a few extra interior lights from light design package

Straight line performance will be better in the S actually because of PDK shift speed and gearing. Handling will be substantially sharper in the GTS (Sport PASM is way sharper than non-PASM base suspension). The LSD and torque vectoring on the GTS will mainly be noticeable on track rather than the street. As for the comfort features of the S, you decide if you care.

My pick for a fun weekend car would be the GTS. While it’s missing a couple convenience features, the SPASM suspension makes a huge difference in handling sharpness vs non-PASM, the more supportive seats make cornering more enjoyable, and the manual transmission on these has very nice shift action.

Possibly looking to sell has a almost every option. Pdk, gts interior, navigation, Bose, CarPlay. Has 4 year and 10 months of warranty left

The 6 speed in the Cayman is really nice. Love my manual GTS. Low end torque is very welcome with the manual. I had a 2014 Cayman S with PDK.

Aren't there known problems with actuators on the S turbos?

Too bad the GTS has a manual.

If you are going to track the car often and hard, there are known overheating issues (turbo controller) with the S model only.

Thanks for the replies. The GTS has the standard PASM and the manual 2-way sport seats plus. I agree that those seats are very comfortable. I have not driven a car yet with the 14-way regular sport seats. Is there a big difference?

Get the GTS. You are buying a Porsche and the 6 speed manual and GTS performance items trump luxury items for me.

One other thought is color. I would overrule what I said above if the S had a color I much preferred.

GTS trumps the S for cooling if you're tracking/carving for long periods of time.

Both cars are Guards Red. I should also mention that the GTS has the Alcantara delete option. I am not a huge fan of the Alcantara. It looks great new, but seems to get a bit matted with use. Has anyone else had this experience?

It's pretty easy to keep clean with either with a cleaner like Sonax or warm water towel. I'm biased as I love the Alcantera accents in the GTS.
