First video review of 4.0
Here you go those that missed the 6 cylinder and didn’t make the list for GT4/Spyder. Lots of good stuff here. Basically getting a touring GT4. Very positive review. Enjoy.

Henry Catchpole is simply one of the best in the business in my opinion. A masterpiece of a review. Don’t know how he does it - praises the 4.0 but at the same time make those who ordered a Spyder feel good about their decision. As a former 981 GTS owner so glad they brought the 6 cylinder back. Congratulations to those who have ordered a 4.0 GTS. I hope Henry does a video in the “world’s greatest driving roads” series with the GT4 Spyder or 4.0 GTS Boxster - like he did with the 981 Spyder or 981 GTS Boxster. Well done Henry - love watching all of his car review videos - professional but always some wry humour. Brilliant!

4.0 v 2.5T
Now that the GTS 4.0 is out I, for one, would love to see the auto bloggers and journalists do head to head comparisons between the new 4.0 and the GTS it replaced.
The 4.0 looks great and probably sounds great but I am interested in seeing how they compare in performance. Does the 4.0 handle better, is it faster around a track, is it faster to 60? Is the difference enough to trade a GTS for a new model? My GTS is a nice build and the sound doesn’t bother me one way or the other but I was thinking that perhaps the difference is enough to eat a loss and move to the 4.0 or even a 992.
i think that the difference between the discounted prices in the 2.5 and the fact that the 4.0 will probably sell at MSRP would make a trade a non starter but who knows.
what does everyone think?

Performance differences between the 2.5 and 4.0 will be marginal and likely depend on the situation you are applying the vehicle to. Certainly for the street, the turbo wins because of torque and will take advantage of the tall gearing. You don't need to be in the high RPM range to get the power. At lower range RPM, you are at max torque and can make passes easily and effortlessly without having to downshift. There are good threads out there on the this and other 718 forums that discuss the theory,ie torque vs power curves. However, if you think about tuneability, there is no doubt that a 2.5 GTS with a simple tune will outshine the 4.0 in any circumstance. Again, I have been salivating at the idea of a 2.5 vs 4.0 proper comparison on the street and track (and at elevation), I can't wait to see it.
Given that there will likely be marginal performance differences between the two, if you really want the 4.0 and have the money to spend and don't mind the wait, then that might be your car. However, if you want something of great value that is available today, a pre-owned or certified 2.5 GTS will save you easily 10's of thousands of dollars. At this point, for a 4.0, you are essentially paying for the emotional component of car buying (ie. the NA sound, the prestige of new ownership, getting the latest shiny new item), which is well worth it if it makes you happy.

I think if you are in the market for a 2.5 GTS - this is a perfect time. I have been watching the market on the manual transmission 2.5 GTS for the past year (new and used), and the inventory is significantly dwindling. Since the likely hood of new allocations for 2.5 GTS in the future is pretty much next to nothing, the supply of available 2.5 GTS will drop and probably be harder to find them (it's unlikely everyone is trying to sell their 2.5 GTS, since they are such great cars in their own right, most people will keep them and enjoy them despite all the noise - me included).

I just wish they would make Python an option on the GT4

I want a GTS 4.0, it is a great upgrade to my 981S. I went from 911s to the Cayman and haven’t looked back. I love the neutral handling of the Cayman and now a 4.0! Brilliant!

So I would love to see a 718 Cayman GTS 4,0 manual. Skip the alcantara bits for leather, spec the 997 buckets in leather. That's a GT4 touring with slightly better road manners: 2020 GTS 4,0 build DE
But don't do it! Me, I love music!
