No one wants manual transmission 718!
I have been monitoring the market for quite a long time and have observed that no one seem to want a manual 718!! It is pretty interesting since in all forums people are all screaming "manual, manual...." and "nothing beats manual" and in reality no one buys them. There are few nicely loaded 718 MT with 20-30k off and they have been sitting on the lot for over 1 year. I actually bought 2 years ago a beautiful CPO 2014 MT 981 boxster (with x73 suspension). The car was originally priced at 41K and after several month on the lot, I paid 32k for the car. Car looked and felt like new and was one of the nicest cars I have ever owned. Anyway, if you are a MT person in the market for a 718, you are lucky and can get great deals.
Any idea why there is such a big discrepancy between what people discuss in the forums and the reality?

I do! And I just did! I hunted mine down from across the country, she arrives later this week! Factory car, so driven by a manager at the dealership for about 3 months. Spec'd thru the roof, but sold for the base Boxster price. Had to hunt, but I found her!

True driving enthusiast prefer manual transmissions. True driving enthusiast spend time on car forums. Casual drivers prefer Autos. Casual drivers don't participate on online forums. Or, less than 10% of drivers prefer manuals. Less than 10% of drivers participate in online forums. They're the same group.

Here few examples, and this is just from one dealership. You will find similar deals at many dealerships in the country.

I agree, some really enticing prices on those cars. But I also think some of those cars are specced like crap—over specced with useless features that do nothing but drive the original MSRP by an easy $10k per car.

I just bought a CPO GT4 in August...just put it in for its 6th service (repair) visit yesterday. A new/never titled 718 GTS is sounding very appealing right now...especially now that the APR tune is out.

I picked up a pre-owned manual 718 CGTS 3 months ago.
If it wasn't a manual, I would not have considered the 718.
I learned to drive with the arcade game, Hard Drivin' as a teenager. It featured a manual transmission with clutch pedal and shifter - and yes you could stall !
All the cars I have owned since I started to drive at the age of 16 have been manuals (except for my wife's current car and my daily that my nanny also drives).
I hope the last car I will ever own will also be a manual.
Porsche, you have earned my business with the manual transmission, please keep them coming and I will keep buying them.

- (3) trips, (2) dealers intermittent knock/hesitation... wound up replacing air filters myself to resolve 🙄
- Front sway bar came loose after nuts fell off... asked dealer to adjust at purchase. If you don't know, new nuts (pre-coated w/Loctite) are required for "every" adjustment, per Porsche.
- Park brake fault, wouldn't engage
- Vacuum leak, right muffler replaced
- PDLS fault...but went away before service visit
- Now, "Cooling System Fault"...had to add 30oz of water to get proper level, but system seems to be cooling properly...I'm halfway hoping it'll be a cracked cooling jacket, so I can have a new motor, to go with the new tranny. If thermostat, etc has to be replaced, I told them to go ahead and replace the water pump, "since they're in there"
While it's nice on my 110mi. commute once or twice a week, I think I'd enjoy the added torque, and better gas mileage from the 718 GTS. I was back and forth between the two, and still have deposit in 718 GT4, but this 981 came up, and I thought it would be a better "situation". I think if a GTS could be had for $70k or less, then add the APR tune, it presents a great value.
