Hello folks,
I heard Power steering plus is just a software upgrade .Suncoast is selling a Power steering plus software retrofit that i guess dealer can install , i could not reach suncoast and was wondering if someone got the retrofit done on their 718 ?

I think it's more common to have this removed from their car than added (many do not like the over-boosted numb feel it can add). Do you find the 718 difficult to steer at low speeds?

I don't have Power Steering Plus, and I would like higher steering effort than base steering provides

Unsure if you just worded this poorly or I'm misunderstanding but... as it stands, if you want "higher steering effort" then don't get power steering plus. It only makes it less effort (on your part) not more.

I think he is saying the standard steering is already over-boosted and he would prefer an option that increased the effort from standard (rather than decreasing it like PSP)...

Sorry for confusion, GrantG got it right. I think base power steering is over boosted. I prefer my S5 steering in that respect (and that respect only).

PSP does the opposite of what you want, so the "base" (non PSP) steering is the least boosted you can get unless you do something custom yourself.

I realize Power Steering Plus provides extra boost, that's why I avoided it when ordered my 718

I have PSP on my 718 Boxster (custom build) but didn't have it on the Cayman S I recently bought. I really missed it on the CS, so I bought the code from Suncoast and had the upgrade done at my local dealer. $150 and one hour later, and it was done. Works great; now the two 718s have identical steering feel.

My new to me 991.1 has PSP. All the cars I test drove did not have PSP.
Only difference I feel is when maneuvering car in parking decks and tight places. Once car gets moving it feels just like normal 991.1 steering.
it’s neither a “cant live without” nor a “ must have “ option.
About as important and relevant as the 991.1 electric power steering debate. Go out the drive! is what I say

My wife and I have test-driven several 992s. All but one (a base Carrera 2) had Power Steering Plus.
The steering was noticeably heavier at parking-lot speed, but hardly onerous. We both actually preferred it to the over-boosted feel of the PSP cars. We'll be skipping it. One more thing that can break...

I just watched a video with James, of Auto Amateur on YouTube. His friend, Chris, who I believe is a salesman at the dealership in Minneapolis, spec'd his own car. He said he's driven lots of cars with and without PSP, and he ordered it.
That's enough evidence for me.
You can always get it taken off, but you can't add it later.

FYI: it is only active below 10 mph so there is no difference otherwise. OP: contact the dealer you bought your car from or your local dealer and tell them you want it activated. If they want more than Suncoast tell them what their price is and I am sure they will work with you to make it happen.
