The base car, S and GTS all use different turbochargers and this is only seen on the S from our experience and speaking with several owners around the country. We get calls and emails weekly about this
I’ll add another datapoint from personal experience that a stock S can suffer from limp mode under some circumstances. And adding the center radiator, while it may be somewhat beneficial, does not solve the issue.

This is correct. We noticed an immediate decrease in temps on the Accessport with the 3rd radiator but this did nothing to solve out limp mode issue. We still highly recommend the factory 3rd radiator kit even for daily drivers

Is there any way to run some ducting to the area of the turbocharger? Shame that Porsche hasn't come up with a fix for that yet.

Suncoast, thanks for the clarification. This is a long thread and this is the first time we've heard about the cause of the limp mode (apart from heat) and that it is also a problem on the non-tuned S cars.

I'd be interested in hearing about the difference between the servomotor/turbo design on the S vs GTS. Although I understand the GTS turbo is minimally larger but the intake manifold is redesigned/larger so maybe the solution is with the modified intake system on the GTS?

We actually discussed this a bit back in October 2019 when we found out about it. At that time we did all of the underbody modifications in hopes that they would help us out. Since then we've only had one flawless weekend out of four I think.

This is the document Porsche released on their internal network and shows that code P1254 would pop up, and we have seen that several times in our Cobb Accessport. This is not really "public" information and it's buried away in Porsche's document repository.

We do know that the Boxster models and 911 Turbo models use a certain same servomotor and the Cayman models and GT2 RS use a different servomotor. Not really sure what that means though

Any chance you'll try the APR tune to see if that has any better track results?

No, we’re a Cobb dealer and have nothing but positive things to say about them. The flexibility of the Accessport and ability to get pro-tuned, which we are (thanks BGB Motorsports!), is much more attractive to us than a “set it and forget it” flash tune. We don’t have any experience with the APR tunes for the new platforms, and while we know they’re probably great, we love the Cobb experience. When you are talking directly with your tuner while at the track and running logs it’s hard to steer away from that service.

This was just posted over on 718forum. Claims to solve the heat/limp mode problem.

Also saw that and super interested to hear some more feedback. Looking for a solution that will permanently solve all possible cooling issues instead of always doing small bandaid fixes.

Sorry to thread bump/revive old threads but I was curious what oil pressures you were seeing during your track days. From other threads, albeit not many, high oil pressures (65 to 70psi) seem to be fairly common at high RPMs. Did you guys see this as well? Have you seen adverse effects from running 20 to 30 minute sessions multiple times a day at elevated oil pressures?

We will be out at the 48 Hours of Sebring this weekend as a vendor. We are not tracking but our car will be on display. We are confirmed for March 5-6-7th at Sebring so that's when we will be testing the new temperature sensor, factory big brake upgrade, and we have one more thing in the works in the power department

If you see us at Sebring this weekend please stop by and say hello!
