That said, I do know what your saying and see your point. Please continue to chime in, as that is what a forum is for. It is me whom should be apologizing so please accept.

back on track.... I love to mod (as seen in my 997 and other toys) so a stock replica or authentic 356 isn't for me. I really love when I see the resto mod like renovations of the 356's out there. I actually prefer the coupes more but wifey wants a fun car convert so the coupe is not an option.

thanks all for your replies and input....

agree.........if only i had the budget

I have to say, that is the first IM that I don't like. Doesn't look like a 356 any more.

When I was there a few years ago they were building a 911 powered Speedster. It did not have the extreme flares, much more subtle. They actually widened the body by 3" - they cut their standard fiberglass speedster body down the middle and added material to make it wider. Very cool. It had a 2.7.

Check out these two Intermeccanica's:

The first one was just written up in Excellence, May 2010,

http://www.intermeccanica.com/IM13470.html

This second one is another 356/6.

http://www.intermeccanica.com/IM13465.html

Both of these are not pretending to be anything other than what they are. I just have to remember the quote by Ferry P, something like 'no one would build me a sports car, so I made one myself'........

If I had the money, I would probably make my own (or at least have Henry at IM make me what I wanted!!!

Thanks again for any advice on the above topic...
May be difficult to find used, but otherwise, this seems a widebody that's a car of its own...

Steve-- As Gregg asked, any luck getting a unique topless sunmobile for your lady?

BTW, I'm enjoying the modifications of your 997's subtle yet purposeful transformation toward a fitting 993 GT2 tribute car (rear photograph)

Back to the task at hand, maybe this will turn up a new lead, even though it's FS overseas:

On the subject of replicas does anyone know about http://www.vintagespeedsters.com or seen their cars in the flesh.

There is three on ebay that look great, but unfortunately i cannot just pop over to have a look at them.

Any feedback welcomed as i have two friends that both have real ones and this is the only way i will be able to get even close to having that fantastic shape parked in my garage.

Thanks Andrew

I've seen Vintage, JPS, CMC, IM and probalby others in person. Visited the IM factory (http://bruceclement.com/porsche/imvisit.htm) a couple years ago. Never owned a Speedster replica, but spent a lot of time researching them and meeting local owners.

There are always lots of Vintage and others available with about 1,000 miles on them. People buy them without really knowing what they're getting into, then they unload them after the thrill is gone.
