Here's a pic of my coupe and Vic's car going into T1 at Road Atlanta HSR race earlier this year:

Another of George Balbach's car tricyling at same race.

Have another somewhere of Paul Swanson's "Vader" 356.

Also will post some shots of the '06 Jefferson 500 at Summit Point when they arrive. Here is an "artsy" nose shot of our three cars at the '06 Jeff:

Cheers,

Jase

Joanne,
The D is the perfect car. The car is usable and visually excellent.

How is that a"project" ? ;-)

Looks perfect already ! Or does "project" mean twisting robert's arm to buy the thing ?!! ;-)

Either way I am mildly jealous ! (only mildly because it's red, it's a beautiful car)

Who knows. It has a euro heater system on it and the front bumper has the holes for the over-riders so we guess that is was probably a Euro spec car. The tail light lenses are American. Yup, for now who knows.....

Go Robert, Go JoAnne!!! Not that you need much incentive from any of us

Really, may all 356s end up in the hands of people that care so much for them as you two!!!!

Believe me it is not excellent. The paint is a 30 footer, any closer and you see the chips, glazing, a few soft rust bubbles. The gaps are good everywhere except for the passenger door, and let me tell you, we can't figure out what the heck happened to it (maybe even t-boned??). The rear bumper is mounted wrong and is very tight against the body of the car. The front bumper has its own issues. Heater Boxes are about to fall off. Top is in good shape, but the frame is not.The seats have been redone but the rest of the interior is SHOT. We took a magnet to the whole car and there is bondo in the front nose and a little on the rear. On and On and, but it it not the worse 356 we have seen by far...... At least it can be driven. Engine is strong, new brakes and shocks all the way around and a very soilid floor pan.. Trasmission? Iffy.....

Pictures make the paint look fine. Believe me....... no no no no NO.....

J,
My point was that the D (not nec your D) is to me the perfect car visually that is also able to used 3-5k per year "comfortably". The A-body !!!!!!, more comfy seats than the speedster, actual windows, slightly larger windshield (does not apply to short people like me).....
I would love to make a mild outlaw from a D. That's my 356 dream. If I could only stop my track addiction with the "beast" (993tt) I could afford my next 356.
Good Luck and congrats.

Tony,
sell the beast & pour the $s into a "dual use" D or your Roadster - they hold value even if you track 'em (as you are probably aware & don't roll it into a ball) & (as you are also probably aware) are as much fun to race as anything - just slower & uniquer - every bit as demanding in their own way. I like to say, "The 356: Fun At Every Speed". You can always pick up another full up 911 for the track in the future - the 996 GT3 will eventually become reasonable (won't they?). cheers!

ked,

not a bad idea! i would love to drive a track prepped 356. i started tracking w/ a stock regular boxster and learned quickly the value of momentum. kickin' the rear of a roadster around would be a blast.

Default Great Drive Today

My wife and I drove the roadster a couple of hunderd miles in the mountains west of Denver today. The car didn't miss a beat all day. Here are a couple of photos taken at the summit of Mt. Evans (14,258 feet in the parking lot). There was a very nice white 993 cab at the top also.
