730hp 993TT VS CGT 0-160mph
QUOTE=themarsman]My exact statement was:
I own a 730hp 993TT and I am not sure that it would keep up with the CGT from 0-160mph.
I have never raced the two so it would be impossible for me to know which would be faster 0-160mph. I have the stock drivetrain in my 993 with an upgraded clutch so I haven't pushed the car nearly as hard off the line as I have my CGT. My statement was based on the fact that I think the two would be very close in a straight line to 160mph, but until I can run some timing test I won't know for sure.
Right now the 993 is torn apart and the turbo and wastegates are being rebuilt and I am putting a new computer system on the car once this is all done I will have the car dynoed in the spring and might take it to the drag strip.
I am also going to have both cars weighed and will let you know the difference in weight, I believe the CGT is lighter but will provide exact numbers later.[/QUOTE]

Perhaps it is the usual 700+hp from the 996 tt forum and pushing it up to 160mph it will be more like 450 hp perhaps because of the stock intercooler.
I think it is a very cool combination of cars though.
He can choose between big torque and amazing sound.

If there is to be a debate about his 730hp 993tt, it should be here - if he will come over and play however I suspect he doesn't care that much whether its bling hp or real hp

Welcome to Rennlist. Wouldn't like to hijack such a promising thread, but care to share more about your car? It is not everyday that we have here a modified and "carbon fibered" R Turbo.. Any 60-130mph in the horizon? Please check 60-130mph thread by Bill s. here.

This is a bit confusing but I believe I understand it now.
Marsman, who has a CGT and many other really nice Porsches like 94 Turbo "S"
993TT S, etc. somewhere along the line claimed he had a 730 HP 993tt??
There are a couple in the world at the level is my understanding and most
of them were built by Protomotive.
Let the games begin!!!

1313kg wow - is that measured or guesstimated, sounds very light. You were my inspiration for going carbon, but I only managed 1396kg. What am I missing or rather what should I be missing

Jean,
not much to add really...just carbon doors/bonnet/mirrors/front and rear bumpers, ruf (aero-optimised) whale-tail derived rear spoiler, 18" ruf modulars with pirelli corsa rubber, full H&R suspension, GT3 Recaros, brakes upgraded for track ie.hoses/ducting/pads/fluid, stripped of all A/C parts, soundproofing and a few other creature comforts. Re-visited pfaffenhausen recently for an overhaul and decided to one better and change ruf k16 turbos to ruf tweaked k24's, intercooler, titanium rods, new ruf designed exhaust with 100 cells, a new ecu and their taller 6th gear.
424bhp/tonne and 388lbft/tonne
I've read bills thread, and will post some times when traction is less of an issue in a few months...uk not quite as dry as saudi this time of year..unfortunately
TB,
This was measured after recent mods at pfaffenhausen with half tank but no passanger
hope to c u, at next vmax perhaps?
best regards

Do you have a carbon fiber picture of your car you can share?
You must have a very serious 60-130mph, are you still on 4WD with that weight?
Thanks for sharing.

Jean,
yes I still have the 4wd, have tuned out understeer though with meticulous corner weight adjustments, stable as u like over 200mph but handles crisp with plenty of turn in bite.
it took a while to get it right..

I don't doubt the man's wealth and taste for cars. But I do doubt his knowledge about his car, specifically his 730hp 993tt. As we all know here there are only very few 993tt that put out that kind of power exist. From his description I doubt if his 993tt is one of them.
If it does exist I doubt if it will have any problem keeping up with CGT given that it has over 100hp more then CGT and almost equal in weights. My2cents.

Impressive weight for a 4wd.
