Wrecked Porsche 911 GT2 RS May Have Belonged to Pro Golfer

Wrecked Porsche 911 GT2 RS

This special Porsche 911 GT2 RS was reportedly owned by Patrick Reed, who bought it after winning the Masters in 2018.

Recently, this wrecked Porsche 911 GT2 RS conjured up a lot of attention on the internet, and for good reason – it isn’t every day that we see one of these special machines crumpled up like a spent soda can. It’s a sad sight for sure, and this is a nicely-spec’d car as well, making it a popular target among those looking to rebuild one and save a few bucks after it popped up for auction at Copart. Amazingly, the car only has 361 miles on the clock as well, though it obviously won’t be terribly easy to fix. However, some internet sleuths over at Reddit also believe that its previous owner is someone famous, too.

That person is Patrick Reed, a pro golfer that currently competes in the newer LIV Golf. Reed actually won the Masters back in 2018, after which he celebrated by ordering a Porsche 911 GT2 RS finished in a unique shade dubbed Masters Green, along with yellow brake calipers and door script plus a black interior.

That particular combination isn’t exactly what one might call common, which makes this game of connect the dots rather easy to follow. Reed also previously posted photos of the car on his Instagram account, and, well, it’s a dead ringer for this sadly wrecked example. As for how this all went down, that much remains a mystery. It’s unclear if Reed was driving the Porsche at the time of the accident or if someone else was behind the wheel, but regardless, it’s a sad shell of its former self at the moment.

From the photos posted at Copart, it’s pretty clear that essentially every single body panel of the 911 was damaged in the accident, some worse than others. The whole passenger side front panel has been ripped off, with that side crumpled up, while the roof is also partially caved in. It seems as if the Porsche rolled multiple times, making it one heck of a project for someone – and most likely, just a parts donor at this point.

Regardless, the car wound up finding a seller, so it’s unclear what they have planned for it at this point. Perhaps we’ll see it come back to life in some YouTube video series, or maybe it’ll be parted out and never heard from again. Either way, we’re certainly feeling the pain that Reed likely experienced after watching it meet its maker.
