Apparel company Stone Island unveils a rugged 911 Safari build. The brand partnered with renowned artist Daniel Arsham to develop this off-road capable 911.

Porsche 911 has a proud rally heritage. Here at Rennlist, we love modern 911 reproductions which celebrate Porsche’s iconic Safari models. In January last year, we discussed the Singer Porsche 911 ACS, which is powered by a 3.6-liter powerplant that produced 450 HP of power. More recently, Italian luxury apparel brand Stone Island unveiled another exciting 911 Safari project.

The sportswear company partnered with renowned artist Daniel Arsham to develop its new 911 Safari build. Porsche 911 Safari models from the 1970s inspired this one-off sports car. The car we have here started life as a 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo. Famous 911 tuner Leh Keen of the Keen Project helped build this off-road capable 911.

In addition to its suspension lift, the car we have here also gets light pods, off-road rubber, new bumpers, and skid plates. The car exudes a rugged military-esque vibe, further highlighted by the bodywork’s drab green paint job. On the other hand, the interior is quite a luxurious space that one would expect from a high-end apparel brand like Stone Island.

Inside the cabin of this 911 Safari project, we find custom cotton moleskin adorning most surfaces.

After treating and dyeing the fabric, Stone Island achieved a distressed effect. Furthermore, the door panels and seat inserts sport a beautiful camouflage texture. We find Stone Island and Arsham Studio badges embroidered into the headrests. In addition to its 911 Safari project, Arsham and Stone Island also built a one-off Unimog U404 truck.

The apparel company is also launching an exclusive line of retro moleskin overalls, jackets, and custom shirts that share the same design language as the two custom vehicles. Unfortunately, Stone Island will only offer its new clothing and luggage line to people close to the company.

This 911 Safari project rides on a set of Fuchs wheels wrapped in beefy off-road tires. A white bumper bar dominates the front end of the sports car and offers a striking contrast with the car’s interior. Lastly, a one-off White rear bumper guard and a custom roof rack complete this off-road ensemble.
