Philosophy

What really impressed me about RS-Werks beyond just the work they do is their attitude, and passion. This is a group of guys who love Porsches. They didn’t start this business simply because they thought it would be profitable.

They do what they do because they absolutely love it, and so do their clients. On their website they state that when you work with them, you become part of their family. For a lot of companies, this is not much more than marketing speak, but in the case of RS-Werks it is a fact.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of their customers. A friendly gentleman from Texas, who has had multiple cars done by RS-Werks. He was telling stories of going on rallies in Texas with RS-Werks crew. McKeown would drive his beloved Peterbilt car hauler/mobile repair shop down.

He and his crew would help out any cars that needed repairs during the event. The customer and McKeown each spoke of the wonderful times they shared on the rally. This is not a typical customer-business relationship, these are true friends sharing wonderful times together.

The RS-Werks team and their customers build these cars to drive them. These folks are drivers at heart, not museum curators. The cars are beautiful enough for a museum but tough enough to be driven every day. RS-Werks lives by this philosophy with their own cars. Dunlop drives his ’73 RS everywhere. Rain or shine, he will take the RS out for a hard drive.

Craig has a Ferrari 308 that he has owned for ten years. In that time, he has put 100,000 miles on it. I am not sure anyone on earth put more miles on a 308 during the last decade.

McKeown has several old Porsches, and he enjoys pushing them to the point that he gets them airborne on occasion. These gentlemen push their cars, and they expect their customers to do the same. They build them to take anything a customer can throw at them.

Joe has been obsessed with cars since he got his very first Matchbox toy in the ‘70s. In 2003, he found a new obsession in track days that led to obtaining his SCCA competition license in 2015. In 2019, he became a certified driving instructor for the National Auto Sport Association. His love for all things four wheels has never wavered, whether it's driving some of the best cars in the world on the racetrack, tackling 2,000-mile road trips in 2-seat sports cars or being winched off the side of a mountaintop in a Jeep. Writing for the suite of Internet Brands Auto Communities sites, including Rennlist.com, Ford Truck Enthusiasts, 6 Speed and more allows him to share that knowledge and passion with others.
