1977 Porsche 930

Porsche 911 Turbo engine and transmission have been rebuilt and the body is immaculate.

Every Porsche 911 ever built is special, but 930 era brought about the first turbocharged version of the legendary German sports car. There were many iterations of the 930 and all of them have become key collectables, making them hard to find for sale in good shape. When you do find one for sale, you can expect to pay well into the six-figure range.

If you are in the position to lay down over $100,000 on a classic Porsche, we have an exciting opportunity for you. A Rennlist member named “E-Man” has posted his 930 for sale and it is a remarkably clean car, including a full rebuild of the original engine and transmission as well as a refresh of the factory suspension system.

The First 911 Turbo

The Porsche 911 had already made a name for itself prior to the 930, but with the introduction of the 911 Turbo (also called the 930 in some markets), the German automaker took the world by storm. The 930 led to a huge boom in sales as buyers around the world snatched up the lightweight, turbocharged sports car.

The heart of this package is a 3.0-liter, flat-six Boxer engine that delivered 260 horsepower with help from a 4-speed manual transmission. Of course, the engine was mounted behind the seats, providing a weight balance that led to the world class handling capabilities that helped make the 911 famous.

Ice Green Metallic Porsche 930

When the OP first posted this 1977 Porsche 930 for sale, he provided the following key details.

Matching number, mostly all original 930 in an iconic 70’s paint. Stunning to see in person. Black leather interior with green tartan inserts. All original, never touched. Originally delivered to Canada and imported to the US by previous owner. Under my ownership it was maintained by John Walker’s Workshop. An extensive engine out service was performed by European Autowerke on 10/19 which included engine and transmission re-build and suspension re-fresh. Receipts included. Car is well sorted and great for rallys, road trips or Vintage cruising.

The OP also included four pictures, three of which we have included here. As you can see, he offered a sole picture of the interior and exterior, along with a close-up look at the sunroof and a shot of the recent Certificate of Authenticity. As you can see, this particular car was built on October 2, 1976 and was originally a Canadian car, but it was later imported to the United States.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
