Rare Collection of 14 Porsche 911 RS Models on Display at Saratoga Automobile Museum
Every Porsche 911 RS model from 1973 to 2019 is now on display at this amazing exhibit located in beautiful Saratoga Springs.
Porsche 911 RS models are considered to be among the finest driving machines ever to roam the earth, and today, each is both celebrated and coveted to a different degree. Rarely do we ever see a complete collection of these iconic vehicles together in one place, but that’s precisely what the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs, New York, is offering via its new exhibit, Rennsport: The Complete Collection (RS).Â
This special gathering consists of 14 different Porsche 911 RS models from the renowned Steven Harris collection – a 1973 911 Carrera RS, 1974 911 Carrera RS 3.0, 1984 911 SCRS, 1992 964 911 Carrera RS Lightweight, 1994 964 911 Carrera RS 3.8L, 1995 993 911 Carrera RS, 2004 996.2 911 GT3 RS, 2007 997.1 911 GT3 RS, 2010 997.2 911 GT3 RS, 2011 997.2 911 GT2 RS, 2011 997.2 911 GT3 RS 4.0L, 2016 991.1 911 GT3 RS, 2019 991.2 911 GT3 RS, and 2019 991.2 911 GT2 RS.
This special lineup is actually the second exhibit at the Saratoga Automobile Museum this year that has featured vehicles from the Steven Harris collection.
“If you enjoyed our last exhibit, Rare Air, you have to come back to experience this amazing collection,” said Carly Connors, Saratoga Automobile Museum’s executive director, “Outside of the Porsche Museum in Germany, this is the only place the public will be able to see every RS model from 1973 to 2019.”
Located within the gorgeous confines of the 2,500-acre Saratoga Spa State Park, the Saratoga Automobile Museum opened to the public back in 2002 and has been serving up some of the finest automobile exhibits on earth in the years since. The museum itself is situated inside of the restored and renovated New York State Bottling Plant, which is a literal work of art all by itself, even without the amazing artifacts contained within its walls.
What’s particularly fascinating about this exhibit, however, is that one can take a stroll through history and revisit the path Porsche took to perfecting its beloved sports car, both in the flesh and via a host of amazing photography captured by James Lipman. Presented by Porsche and Porsche Clifton Park, Rennsport: The Complete Collection (RS) is open now and runs through the spring of 2022. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum’s website or in person.
