2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Shows Godzilla How It’s Done

It’s an undeniable fact that the 2016 Nissan GTR was designed to shame much more expensive supercars from the world’s most recognized sports car manufacturers, such as Porsche. That being said, modern technology and Porsche’s deep involvement in motorsports may have finally caught up to Nissan’s tech wizardry.

Such is the case on this video produced by U.K. magazine EVO. The video does a great job of skipping the boring bits and diving straight into the action. Drag racing has never proven difficult to a racer with the pedigree of the GT3 RS, but it was certainly built with the opposite idea in mind: to go fast around the sharpest of bends, not quarter mile drag races.

On the other hand, the Nissan GTR employs thunderous horsepower and traction control systems to launch it into tripe-digit speeds in no time. Sadly for the GTR, and Nissan fans around the world, its 49 horsepower and all-wheel drive advantage weren’t enough to beat the Porsche’s masterful naturally-aspirated engine.

Ignore what you’ve learned about either car until now. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS covered the quarter mile in 17.6 seconds compared to the GTR’s 18.1 seconds, even with launch control activated.

Take that, Nissan!
