Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid: Best Car $180k Can Buy?
It’s certainly hard to find a car more well-rounded than the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. So is it in a class of its own?
No one can deny that the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is an amazing machine. A hefty four-door sedan that’s fully capable of outrunning just about anything on the road. We’re talking supercar performance in a comfy luxury sedan, a car that essentially denies the laws of physics. Still, taking home a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will also cost you a hefty sum. Thus, it’s fair for folks like Rennlist forum member SillyGoose to wonder if there’s a better way to spend your $180k.
“If you had $180,000 to buy any new car, what would it be and why would it be a good choice for you?’ he asks in his thread. “I was thinking about this as I was optioning out a $180,000 Panamera Turbo.”
It’s a fair question, of course. But for most Rennlisters, the choice is obvious.
“Definitely a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. Whether heavily loaded or not. Having an E-Hybrid, I’d never consider a gas-only Panamera again,” said cometguy.
“Hard not to buy a Panamera,’ added Vettel-ish. “However, you might be able to get a GT3 or even a GT3 RS for that. Might have to go that route.”
And while others may consider other brands, folks like saeyedoc keep coming back for the unique features that make the Panamera so great.
“A good friend of mine just went through the same exercise. Except with no real limit on the number. But not something so flashy that his employees get irritated when he turns them down for a raise. He ended up finding a leftover loaded ’17 Panamera Turbo for a good deal. Stealthy enough to avoid too much attention, but near supercar performance.”
Interestingly enough, quite a few folks mention the Ferrari FF as an alternative. Including cometguy.
“Depends on what you want. But yes, personally, I think the coolest 2-door car that approaches the Panamera is the Ferrari FF. I’d take the FF over any 2-door German or American car, hands down. I see that some 2012-2015 FFs with low mileage are going for $140k-$180k.”
Yet, SillyGoose isn’t so convinced.
“Just researched the Ferrari FF. That car looks like a clown shoe. The price tag is great for a Ferrari, however. And you do get pretty much the 2nd or 1st best engine note on any car you can buy today.”
So far, we’re not very convinced that there’s a better car you can buy for $180k than the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. But that’s where you come in. Head over here and tell us what you’d buy for that kind of money, and why!
